From time to time, for those that travel alot, upgrades are a good thing and
appreciated. Wednesday night while checking in to the River Rock Casino I was
surprised to be upgraded from a 1 bedroom suite to the penthouse. Wow! Room 1175
is the closest balcony to the runway at Vancouver International. The view of the
mountains, the river and the airport is outstanding. One of the best suites I
have ever been in. The king size bed in the master suite was very comfortable.
Big soaker tub, strong showers, great amenities. Thanks for the treat.

Great place close to the airport, excellent for gamblers. No nearby shopping or
other close activities, right beside subway mind you. Watch out for that buffet
restaurant, the food is sketchy

I have not even stayed at the hotel yet but the very poor customer service and
rude emails I am getting and the rude people you end up talking to on the phone
make me not want to.
I have won a gift certificate to stay 2 nights and it's been nothing but the run
around from the staff to get the room booked.
When I was told to call in with my credit card number to reserve the room (even
though I do have the gift certificate) they didn't have the booking! So when I
emailed back to the man I was dealing with he said - oh well you didn't call in
right when you said so we did not do the booking" How rude! I was unable to call
right that day!!
So after a dozen or so emails and 2 phone calls I still do not have a room
booked and no one has answered my emails that I wanted forwarded to the GM.
When I asked for the GM's contact info they told me NO!!
I know I have a GC (maybe that is why they don't care about me?!) but I am
travelling with family so we are sure to spend money on F&B and other hotel
activities. I also travel to Vancouver monthly with by business and personal so
if they are looking for a new regular client it won't be me!!
If this is the type of service you get before you even get to the hotel - what
happens when you get there?

Bring your spouse, if you're on business.....lots to do, lots to eat and see,
great entertainment and free parking to boot.

All the rooms are suites, with separate living room.
Canada Line transit is easy to use and connects directly from airport to hotel,
and downtown
Pleasant polite staff, from concierge, check in, and room service.
The wave slide/pool is larger than expected, and newly renovated.
Food in the buffet was average.

My friend and I stayed at the River Rock for three nights. We did not stay there
for the casino, but that was a nice perk, since there was live entertainment in
the evenings at the bar. When we arrived and got to our room I could smell
bleach. I walked in the bathroom and it was clean and elegant. The bedroom
mattress was plush and the room sparkled. You could not access the elevator
without a room key, which made us feel safe and secure. The staff was wonderful!
They offered us tips on getting around the city without a car, explaining the
train system, showing us day tours we could book. They even have a shuttle to
three of the malls in the area. We actually reserved for one night and extended
it to three. Once we got there we did not think we could find a nicer hotel for
the price. We are clean freaks so if you like clean stay here. I actually
witnessed the cleaning staff in the hall wiping all the outside door handles of
each room and the doors as well. When my friend and I stay somewhere we clorox
wipe the room first. This room had no dirt or dust. Parking was free but there
is a walk to get to the parking ramp. The nice thing is because it is a casino,
there are security cameras every where, even in the parking structure. Also if
you want to avoid the traffic and congestion of Vancouver and just relax at
night, this location is ideal. Great staff, clean, quiet, secure and
comfortable. Only downfall - no free internet (computer) - you have to pay to
use it.

We found the hotel to be friendly and clean. Our room was quiet and spacious. If
and when we required customer service the hotel staff response was quick and
exceptional. The food in the hotel buffet was fresh with a wide variety of
dishes and desserts and the food fair prices were reasonable. Close to the hotel
are popular coffee shops and sandwich places. |
