My fiancé and I stayed in a beautiful, large and private third floor corner room
with a Jacuzzi on the night of our wedding. We had the free continental
breakfast (what a spread of even some homemade chocolate banana bread) on the
sunny and modern looking inner courtyard patio!!! While I was getting my
breakfast, this nice young lady manager said "Excuse me Sir" can I ask you how
your stay has been. I was a little surprised that she had picked me out of the
full group of people having breakfast that morning so I asked her why she had.
This lovely, detail oriented lady responded, "I am so sorry, and do not want to
trouble you but I had overheard you talking with the group of guests you were
here with and i noticed a certain accent in your voice". "Pardon!!" I said,
unsure what she meant. "you are from Newfoundland, Sir, I recognize it in your
voice, I'm from Newfoundland too!!". This wonderful person that my fiance and i
will definitely let know when we come back to visit family in BC, picked out my
proud and very slight I might add, Newfoundland accent and chose me, "a slice of
home", "someone who knows about helping and serving others", " someone who knows
- WELCOME-and what can I get you , my dear", and chose me out of a busy lobby of
people. We felt like a king and queen, she listened to everything we said, she
was so thoughtful of our time and most importantly she made us feel at home!!!
My darling dear young lady, we have your number, and your hotel will be the ONLY
place we stay in BC.

the staff cheerfully cover for their inadequacies. Basic rule is that if a
member of staff has a day off, you arrange cover for them! We arrived at
breakfast at 9.10am to find the breakfast area an absolute and total shambles
There was rubbish spilling from bins onto the floor; the bread, butter, yoghurt,
fruit juice were all empty, and the coffee was almost cold. The long suffering
receptionist and maintenance man were trying hard to recover the situation, and
we felt very sorry for them.
Our room was acceptable with a pleasant Jacuzzi in the corner of the
bedroom/living area. Bed very comfortable.
The whole place was a little tired and run down, with peeling paint on the facia
boards, tired decor and seemingly rather demoralized staff.
We chose this hotel because we wanted a larger room, but downtown Vancouver was
very pricey - suppose it is a case of, "You get what you pay for.

we have identified some new policies and procedures to ensure that events such
as these are avoided in the future.
I am happy to hear that you enjoyed the hotel room, and that you found the bed
comfortable. You may be interested to know that we are consistently looking for
ways to update and improve the property, and that the building exterior and
decor are on the list for the near future.

The front desk made us feel they were interrupting their conversation when we
arrived to check in. The "suites" consist of two very small dark rooms, a tiny
bedroom and a tiny windowless room with a couch. It was clean enough, but shabby
and unattractive. It is appallingly overpriced for the location and season
($139). The complimentary continental breakfast was grim. At the price, you'd
hope for butter for your toast or cream for coffee - but all you get is packaged
synthetics. We stayed there at the start of a two month trip south. It was the
worst and most expensive place we stayed throughout the entire trip.
