The response of the staff to a minor problem was excellent, quick and efficient.
The room was exceptionally clean. We really enjoyed the kitchenette since we had
to on the go in the morning begore any restaurants would be open.
I would have preferred some method of cooling the room down other than opening
windows. Air conditioning should be added to the low building as well as the
tower.

Location, value, friendly and helpful staff. I'm visiting from Kansas and came
to the island to see Victoria and the Butchart Gardens. This is a perfect hotel
to use as a "home base".
Stayed in the old section of the building. Very clean but the mattresses need to
be replaced. I stayed the end of April and did not need air conditioning but if
you are staying in the summer, you will need the air conditioning. Maybe they
could use a fan to help circulate stale air.

- Location - I wanted to be close to the downtown area. Since I lived previously
in James Bay, I wanted something in that area. Economy - I had some
medical/dental appointments and other personal/business contacts and just wanted
an inexpensive place to stay. I found the rates at the Embassy to be reasonable.
-
I was very disappointed that there was no "food service" in the evening. I had
stayed at the Embassy in late September last year for a night after vacating my
apartment and at that time I was able to obtain a light "supper" in the Lounge
however this seems to have been discontinued. I can't believe a hotel of your
size couldn't make some provisions for serving an evening meal - there are a
number of quick entrees that just need micro-waving and could be served with a
quick salad which would be more than adequate and not require a fully- qualified
chef. It was pouring rain and I didn't feel like going down the street to the
recommended restaurant and the 10% off ticket given by the front desk only
applied to full priced meals which I didn't want so this wasn't much help.

Our stay was a good experience. The bed was comfortable, the location is
convenient and quiet. Perfect location to go for a nice walk around the harbour.
Lots of shopping within walking distance. It was nice to stay at a hotel and not
have to pay for parking. As far as I'm concerned parking should be a perk to
staying at a hotel. Thank you and we will stay again.

beds are HARD
Location is great and the price is right. Hotel is fine except for the beds.
Beds are beyond bad and need to be replaced. So hard that the next morning, with
a sore back, I went out to ask the housekeeper if all the beds are like that.
She said yes but you can call for a foam pad.... Foam pads made them tolerable.

Nice Place
Excellent price for a very nice hotel - a bit older but great rooms, good
restaurant and fantastic location I wish I'd found this hotel years ago -
excellent service, basic but very nice room and THE best shower/water pressure
I've experienced in a long time. I found a very reasonable rate on
www.allure-hotels.com
Convenient to all the tourist stuff but also close enough to Superior Street to
bypass and avoid that harbour traffic

Hotel was accommodating of our party (seven women on a cycling trip) and
provided rooms in close proximity and bike storage. Hotel was very clean but
definitely no-frills. The pipes were very loud. The harbor area is great, just s
short walk to downtown and of course right by the beautiful harbor.

Well, the Empress it is not, but if you cannot afford the Empress (and if you
are reading this, you probably cannot) this is your hotel. The location is
excellent and the rates are a bargain. I'm a light sleeper and have trouble
sleeping at hotels, but not this one, Very quiet! Staff was very helpful in
suggesting places to go also. Rooms could use a makeover, but at this price they
are very good and who wants to use the room for anything but sleeping when you
are staying in the heart of Victoria anyway?

Excellent location, across the street from the capitol building and all the
action yet, very quiet. Walking distance from whale watching tour operators,
bike rentals and much shopping and restaurants.

Only stay here if needed but could be worse
-It was a very dated hotel. It looks more like 1960s then Edwardian -There isn’t
really any difference between the "harbour" and the "tower" rooms, you have a
view of nothing. -The walls are paper thin. We had a cleaning cupboard next to
our room and the guy next to that sounded like he was in the closet. -The beds
were very uncomfy and very bouncy. -Close to everything though which was nice.
-There was blood smeared on the outside of the toilet even though it was it was
sealed meaning it had been cleaned plus it didn’t flush properly.

best deal for downtown Vic
I wish I’d found this hotel years ago - excellent service, basic but very nice
room and THE best shower/water pressure I’ve experienced in a long time.
Convenient to all the tourist stuff but also close enough to Superior Street to
bypass and avoid that harbour traffic. 10 out of 10 for this one. I was able to
find much cheaper prices on
www.allure-hotels.com than on the hotel's own website,
