We recently stayed at the Hotel Grand Pacific for our anniversary. It had been
10 years since we had been there last and remembered it as being a wonderful
property, it hasn't changed! The location is fantastic, close to everything and
great views. We had a suite that looked over the harbour and parliament
buildings, we had booked a special that included breakfast and parking, which
was a great value, the breakfast buffet was delicious. What we were most
impressed by at this property was the staff, everyone from front desk to maids
were friendly and helpful. The concierge service was excellent, by far the best
we have experienced. They were always on hand to help us with reservations,
directions, or answer any questions we had. We will definitely be back!

The hotel location is very convenient to downtown Victoria and right next to the
Parliament building. The room was very clean with a nice view of the Inner
Harbor. As is usual with US hotels it was very beige. The pillows were great,
but the bed was a little soft for me as I like a relatively firm bed. I would
stay here again although it was a little pricey (due mainly to the location I'm
guessing).

My wife and I discovered the Hotel Grand Pacific in 2002 when we were searching
for a hotel on Victoria's Inner Harbour that was less dear than the venerable
Empress. We were delighted then, and pleased to see it has retained much of its
charm eight years on.
The Hotel Grand Pacific sits on the south shore of the Inner Harbour, just west
of the Parliament, which houses the provincial government of British Columbia.
That means the views from the harbor side and east side of the hotel are
incredible, and that the property is just a short walk from all that Victoria
has to offer.
When we first visited eight years ago we were struck by the hotel's beauty:
traditional, but also up-to-date. Today, little has changed, and that's
primarily a positive.
The property has been well-maintained and still looks new and fresh, from the
lobby to the bar and restaurant to the rooms themselves. Service continues to be
excellent, with hotel staff eager to see to it that your stay is pleasant.
Rooms range from standard rooms to one-bedroom suites. Suites are sumptuous and
spacious and, especially during the shoulder season, can be booked for downright
reasonable rates with additional discounts available for AAA/CAA members. There
is, however, one facet worth noting. Guests who book a "city view" room or suite
should be sure they're placed on the 4th floor or higher; otherwise, the "view"
will be of the apartments across the street, not the more expansive view
available from the higher floors.
Two other minor caveats: while well-maintained, the fixtures in the guest room
baths have not been updated since the hotel was built, giving a slightly dated
feel. Finally, the hotel's business center is only open until 4 p.m., so
travelers who need that facility should plan accordingly.
In all, the Hotel Grand Pacific is a grand place to make your home base for your
visit to Victoria.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights during our honeymoon. We had a suite
with a balcony that looked right over Parliament. The room was very clean and
the bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in, including my own!
The location is perfect - it's right on the Inner Harbour close to everything.
We didn't need to take a taxi once when were here; everything is within walking
distance. My only complaint is the little cafe where we had a quick breakfast
was very pricey for mediocre food. Other than that, we appreciated the free
Internet access at the cafe and friendly service.

We stayed at the Grand Pacific a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed it. We
took the Victoria Clipper up from Seattle - the hotel is easily within walking
distance from the Clipper terminal, it's about 2 blocks.
The staff was wonderful - when we checked in, our room was ready early (we
checked in at 11:00 a.m.) and the deskclerk actually upgraded us to a suite on
the 7th floor. She thought we'd be more comfortable since we were traveling with
our two children. Boy, was she right - it was nice to have the extra room to
spread out. We had fantastic views of both the Inner Harbor and the Parliament
buildings since we were on a corner.
The hotel is within easy walking distance of the Royal BC Museum, the Empress
Hotel, Parliament buildings, etc. We walked everywhere we needed to go with no
problem at all. There is so much to see and do in Victoria. We did not eat at
the hotel, so I can't comment on the restaurants there. However, if you get the
chance, do try Red Fish Blue Fish - the most amazing food served out of a
converted shipping container, really, really wonderful.
If you're travelling with kids that like to swim, I would definitely recommend
bringing goggles. My only complaint on the hotel is that the pool has a ton of
chlorine in it and my daughter's eyes started bothering her immediately. The
only goggles we could find for sale in all of Victoria were right there at the
hotel - for $28 per pair. Other than the chlorine, the pool, hot tub, steam
room, and sauna were all very nice and we spent a lot of time in there.
I will definitely stay here again the next time we go back to Victoria.

I've stayed there one night with 9 of my friends and we all loved the hotel.
It's very close from the Victoria Clipper terminal, from the museum, bus stop to
go to Butchart Garden, restaurants and shopping. The rooms are very clean and
the beds very comfortable. We used the swimming pool and the cafe where they
have a selection of coffee and pastries for breakfast. The staff was nice and
helpful to accommodate a group of 10. I would love to go there again.
