"What Guests are saying about Harbour Towers Hotel Victoria "

Harbour Towers is in a good location within walking distance to downtown Victoria and attractions such as the BC Museum. I had stayed at a hotel just across the road from Harbour Towers earlier in the week because it was cheaper but think it was worth the little bit extra for the comfort I experienced at Harbour Towers. The only negatives was that I had to ring down to the front desk to receive the correct information about the complimentary wi-fi which should have been presented at check-in. I was also charged for toll free numbers on the phone when information only specified charges for local or long distance. When I pointed out the mistake though, they gladly rectified my bill. I would return to Harbour Towers if I received the same good price I did through Expedia the first time.

Area recommendations
If you can get somewhere on the harbour or downtown you will be in easy walking distance for a lot of great sight-seeing

Must see
Loved the Butchart Gardens - easy enough to get to with public transport or car. Visit the fish and chip shops on the wharf rather than wharf st - they are better and you might get a show from one of the harbour seals (walking distance) Walk up the street to the shops in downtown Victoria to see if you can get a glimpse at violin playing Darth Vader - there are some good tourist souvenier shops too.

Dining
Barbs Fish and Chips shop on the wharf have the best fish and chips in town (cheap too) - and this is coming from an Australian that has access to some of the best seafood in the world (although its not quite as good as what I'd get at home it was still good). Also loved the Soda shoppe across the road from the Fairmont Empress

The hotel was OK, but my pet peeve is being cold. The heat in the room did not work very well, and on a wet and cold weekend, it would have been nice to be able to warm up better. The lounge is nice. The location is OK, but I would have preferred to be on the opposite side of the harbour as that's where most of the city life is, though it was not too long of a walk so that wasn't too bad.

Dining
Bliss Cafe located in Victoria, BC near Market Square has the most amazing guilt free raw organic vegan food and drinks. Try a "Hero's Journey", it is delicious. A clarity juice is totally refreshing, it made me feel brand new. ....and don't forget to take some yam crackers for the road....or some raw bliss kiss chocolate truffle hearts. Yum! The service was awesome. They were busy, so we had to wait for our order, and they were so nice about it all that they kept bringing us complimentary freebies so we got to sample a lot of their creations. Awesome little place!!!

Nightlife
Brown's Social House located in Downtown Victoria, BC near the Harbour is an awesome place to spend the evening. Great atmosphere, and awesome service, food, and drinks. They are also open later than most other restaurants in the area.

Pretty typical as far as your average hotel goes but I would recommend it. Room size feels spacious. Rooms were quiet, limited hall noise, no street noise. Beds are a little hard for my taste but not worn out. Hot water was brutally inconsistent for me but others said it was fine. Décor was once nice, but now it's edging towards outdated. Suffered some disrepair but still felt clean. Excellent location but not much of a view below the 7th floor. Felt safe parking the car on the street rather than paying extra for underground.

This hotel was recommended to us by friends. The price and location were right so we booked 3 nights. First impressions were good: nice clean spacious lobby, good parking. The wait at the check-in desk was longer than expected. Only one person working, dealing with customers and answering the phone. No problems otherwise. The room and bathroom appeared clean and tidy. Opening the beds was another story. Both beds had human hairs between the sheets and some other unidentifiable bits. The front desk accommodated us quickly by giving us another room. One of the housekeeping staff came with us to the other room. In one of the two beds we found another human hair, but decided we could live with it. We did not contact the front desk again, but accepted some vague explanation from the house keeper. Would we stay there again? I probably would, my wife probably not.

Area recommendations
Around the Parliament Buildings. Relatively quiet and within easy walking distance from downtown.

It was nice coming to Canada for the first time. But staying in such a beautiful hotel with warm hearted staff made it even better. If I come again to Victoria, i'd stay again in Harbour Hotel.
