I also read lots of reviews before choosing to stay at
the Royal Scot, and am very pleased with my experience.
Not sure about people with issues with the wifi, as it
was very fast and completely effortless to connect with.
Great TV's, and bring some DVD's if you want to make use
of the new DVD players! They unfortunately do not have
any for rent.
There was a misunderstanding with my partner on when the
pool closed, and the manager of the hotel himself called
me up to make sure that everything was OK, and that we
were happy. Needless to say, we were great, and really
enjoyed the shuttles, the courteous staff and the
stellar location.
Room Tip: Pick a suite in order to enjoy the kitchen.

Having read all of the positive reviews about this
hotel, we were very excited to come and stay here,
especially since we got a great deal! We found out,
however, that you get what you pay for...
Pros - Decent location. The shuttle service is a nice
touch, although they don't take you very far. Having the
kitchen is a plus, and liked the fact that there was a
flatscreen TV and a DVD player (about the only thing
that is updated..)
Cons - Everything else. Wi-fi SLOW. Also not reliable -
had to reconnect to it several times a day. Bed and
pillows (to our taste) were extremely uncomfortable. Did
not get a good night's sleep when we were there. Sofa/sofabed
was VERY uncomfortable.
Smaller issues: Hanging light fixture in kitchen is too
low and in the middle of the room so my partner kept
banging into it. The kitchen tools and utensils provided
are not sufficient if you are staying any length of time
(i.e. no strainer for noodles, no grater, no tongs) and
obviously since we weren't staying, it's not worth
buying those items for just a few days - but we did miss
them. Also, the linens were scratchy/not good quality,
and the curtains/wallpaper/bedspread were very old and
worn looking.
Overall, unfortunately, the cons outweigh the pros. If
we had not gotten such a good deal that also included
free parking, we would have switched hotels.

We stayed four nights.
Pros- Great location close to harbor, BC museum, etc.
Kitchen was equipped well enough to cook meals with
grocery close by. Kids loved the pool and being able to
eat breakfast & dinner in on their own schedule. Quiet.
Good value.
Cons- Sofa bed was less comfortable, as all sofa beds
are.
We would stay there again.

We had a wonderful time staying at Royal Scott during
spring break .
We were up graded to one bed room suite from studio
suite. Kids enjoyed swimming pool and game room. Royal
Scot is located just one block from the inner harbor and
walking distance from the Royal BC museum and parliament
building. The staff were so friendly and helpful. They
also provide free shuttle service within 10 blocks from
the hotel.
We would stay again for sure.

My husband and I found this hotel on-line while in Port
Angeles, WA waiting to take the ferry over to the
island. Googled it and the location of the
museum.....when we got there, it could not have been
better! We walked everywhere as it was so close to the
ferry, Parliament Bldg., the museum, and down-town. Our
room was beautiful, comfy bed, and quiet. We asked to
extend our visit by one day, and they gave us a suite.
It was wonderful! Made for a great last night. We
already have recommended this place and are planning to
make it an annual event.

This hotel lived up to its rave reviews for our family.
Location can't be beat, very clean, friendly staff, lots
of amenities for families (pool, billiards, game room).
Rooms are modestly decorated but not an issue for us.
Free Wi-Fi & in-room dvd player nice touches. Stayed in
a suite and had tons of room, kitchenette was a
time-saver. Very short walk to Parliament, water-front,
shopping. Parking cheap & easy. Very pleased with our
choice & will stay there again.

We had a good start when we arrived as they had upgraded
us to a queen room with a kitchen and we were really
glad of this because it also gave us a lounge area and
the kitchen was well fitted out which made breakfast a
whole lot easier. The decor in general is a little dated
(far too many patterns for our liking) but it is all
clean and well looked after. We choose it because of the
pool and we weren't disappointed. We were there during
the winter season and so the parking charge seemed a bit
steep. The location is great for being able to walk
around Victoria.

The hotel staff and layout here reminded me so much of
the small hotels where we stayed in Europe. It has that
true continental feel and Old World charm. From the
moment we arrived until the moment we checked out, we
truly felt at home here. The front desk staff was
friendly, inviting, and very helpful. The restaurant
staff was superb and our breakfasts were always tasty.
The rooms were spacious, clean, and extremely
comfortable. The location was central to all we wanted
to do and see. I couldn't have asked for a better
experience. We can't wait to go back!
