The room was very small and there were very few
amenities. I was able to get far more for less in other
hotels during this trip. Breakfast, though not included,
was very good and quite reasonable.
Area recommendations
There were many hotels in the neighborhood of this
hotel. Though it isn't close to the downtown area it is
not far and is easy to get to

We booked two room, one with Kitchen and the other
without. The one (with), had everything you would need
in it, and was bright and clean. The other (without) we
were expecting to have only a coffee machine, however it
had a microwave oven and a bar sized fridge. We could
have booked two normal rooms and been just fine. This is
meant as a compliment, not a "damn, I wished I hadn't
booked the kitchen" .... it was fantastic! The pool and
area was clean and roomy, with a gym next to it. Also
had a sauna and showers which were great! The view from
the rooms was also pretty nice. They overlooked a park
and inlet, and there was no traffic noise at all... we
were only there one night to visit our son/brother at
Uvic, so we didn't eat at the restraint, however we did
enjoy the lounge upstairs. The night we were there they
had a music trivia contest. We arrived at about 11:30,
way after the contest started, and ended up coming 2nd!
We rocked that Kasbah! Very friendly staff in the
lounge, AND the front desk! Over all, it had everything
you would want/expect in a motel and more, and was very
comfortable! If you're expecting the Ritz, you'll be
disappointed, it's not posh, but what you definitely get
more than your moneys worth here! We will be returning
to visit our son at Uvic from time to time, and for the
price, you can't beat this place... We WILL be
returning!Apr 9, 2011
Friendly, courteous, helpful staff. Willing to make your
stay the best experience ever.
Absolutely no complaints. They met or exceeded our
expectations.

We called the night we were to stay, asking if they had
availability, because it was a last minute decision to
stay in Victoria the night before our flight out. The
lady (name unknown) said they had lots of rooms,
non-smoking, king beds, etc. at the rate we expected to
pay. She was friendly. Great! Oh, and the website for
the hotel says continental breakfast is included.
We get there at about 1:30-2:00am (we told her to expect
us then). Check in was so incredibly slow. I don't know
the name of the man checking us in, but he was an older
gentleman who coughed incessantly. Perhaps it was his
first night and that's why everything took so long? We
were at that counter a good 10 minutes (!!!) for two
adults checking into one room, with one credit card,
with a note saying to expect us! (Oh, and when I said
we'd like to get a room, his blunt response, "Do you
have a credit card?") Just thought that was kind of
weird and off-putting.
I don't understand why we were given a tiny room with
two double beds (Double?? What happened to the king?) on
the ground floor. By the look of the parking lot, they
had plenty of rooms available. And I'm miffed now by
other's posts saying that they got free upgrades to king
rooms and such. Um, I haven't slept in a double bed in a
hotel in Canada in... oh, ever? Queen beds are the norm
from what I've seen. When we asked about breakfast, he
said "Oh, we used to do that but not anymore. You can
just buy breakfast in our restaurant there." Um, no
thanks. That's not what was advertised. It's a real
turnoff when this same restaurant operates as a pub
where two drunks were having a lover's quarrel in the
entrance the whole time we were checking in. Really made
us feel relaxed after that long drive down island.
What's with hotels not updating their websites to
reflect the services they actually offer?
In the end, it took so long to get our room that we
didn't want the hassle of trying to change it to another
one.
The only good thing I can say is that the room was
clean, the room darkening curtains were good, and the
heater worked well.
The shower was awful. The tub didn't train so you got to
stand in ankle deep water for the duration of your
shower. Oh, and being on the first floor you can hear
everything above you: read: when someone has a shower at
6:30am you hear it like it's thunder! I can't remember
the number of our room right now, but if you come out of
the lobby, turn left and walk past a few rooms on the
first floor, we were about in the middle room. Also of
note: no elevators, so be wary if you can't pick up your
luggage easily.
For the price we paid I wish we had the energy to go to
a different hotel down the street. There's several
options, and they offer breakfast for the same price. |
