Review of the Days Inn on the Harbour Victoria
Oct 13, 2010
Despite the inclement weather during our short visit to Victoria (compensated by
a wonderful day in the nearby RBC Museum), we were pleased with our
accommodation at the Days Inn on the Harbour. The hotel was extremely easy to
find in our hire car, even though this was our first visit to the city, and the
free parking behind the hotel was a major plus.
Our room on the 3rd floor was small, but pleasant enough with all the facilities
we needed. We particularly liked the view directly over the harbour and the
ferry terminal, especially watching the seaplanes come and go. I found it very
absorbing to watch the world go by from this vantage point, and we were not
unduly disturbed by the noise from the busy street below or the harbour. We did
however notice some excessive noise from the corridor outside our room, in fact
any time a neighboring door was closed, it really slammed shut and the walls in
our room actually seemed to move!
The reception staff were friendly and very helpful - the duty manager at
check-out even phoned Craigdarroch Castle to secure a ticket discount for us
when the front desk had run out of tokens. We also liked the complimentary
internet access in the lobby, but they could really do with more than one PC as
it was often in demand from guests. We did not eat in the hotel, although the
lounge/restaurant area seemed to be popular every night for meals and drinks.
We would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again should our travels take us
back to Victoria. Just a pity about the weather though!!!

I stayed for one night with my husband since we'd flown into Victoria and wanted
to check out the area before moving on to another part of the island. The
location is fantastic, value amazing, free parking incredible, rooms small but
adequate, staff friendly. It would have all been great except for the fact that
come 5am, for the rest of the morning, we could hear running water from everyone
else's showers, sinks, toilets. It was undoubtedly and surprisingly loud. I'm
not just being fussy here. It can't go unnoticed, so unless you sleep through
anything, be prepared for your sleeping to be cut short. I'm not sure I would
stay here again just because of this, but it's hard to beat this place in the
other categories.

Thank you so much for all of your comments, we appreciate all the feedback from
our guests about their stays. We are sorry to hear that you found the walls too
thin and you could hear your neighbours. We hope the remainder of your stay was
an enjoyable one and we'd love to see you again in the future, maybe a different
room or floor would be better...Thank you again.

This is an old hotel with no intentions of management to clean it. this is
without AC facing harbour and you can not get up in the morning , fresh, because
of harbors moisture and smell in your room. front desk management is too bad
except one manager in the night , which is an elder person and he was very nice
and humble. overall hotel hotel is too bad to live there......

Thank you for taking the time to write of your recent stay. I am confused by
your comments and if you have time to please contact me I would appreciate it. I
would like to look into this further as we don't have any elder persons working
here at night, nor a night manager. We want all of our guests to enjoy their
stay with us and it appears that we went terribly wrong somewhere and I would
like to find out where. Thank you again.

We stayed for nights in room 421. Room faced the harbor, directly across the
street from the ferry. It was clean and comfortable. Bed was very comfortable.
Bathroom small but met all of our needs - great water pressure in the shower.
Facing the Harbor, you get to see the comings and goings of the boats and sea
planes which can be noisy at times. Ate in both resturants and enjoyed our meals
with friendly, efficient service. Hotel personnel were quick and efficient also.
A short walk (less than 1 block) from the Inner Harbor, with a longer walk to
the Bay Center but well lit and safe. A good value.
