Reviews of the Gatsby Mansion Inn Victoria

We fell prey to this establishment's ad for their afternoon tea & came away
feeling ill & disgusted. My 7 yr old granddaughter could have done better. The
sandwiches tasted old & the cucumber one was made with the cucumber
peeling...could not eat. My husband ate the ham & cheese & mine since he was
hungry but felt nauseous all afternoon. The pastries were from a wholesaler.
Building is perfect & the service was satisfactory. Don't waste your money here.
The place was empty so I guess that was a clue.

Dear Guest,
I was very saddened to hear about your experience. We would have dealt with your
complaint immediately had we known of your dissatisfaction. By letting us know
immediately, we can correct the problem, however it is difficult when so much
time has passed. Our guests have been delighted with the Tea and have left many
wonderful comments. Regardless,...

The Gatsby Mansion is the perfect stay when travelling to Victoria. The charm of
the hotel itself and the close proximity to the ferry service to and from
Seattle make it a must see!
The room was very nice and comfortable with a beautifully oversized clawfoot
tub!
Loved the stay!

Dear Guest,
Thank-you for taking the time to write about our property. I was delighted to
read your lovely comments and want to thank-you for appreciating the Belleville
block, as this is where Victoria began over a century ago. We look forward to
your next visit to Victoria.

While some travelers might prefer more modern facilities, my wife and I find
older historical dwellings like the Gatsby Mansion to be romantic. The room was
clean, well-furnished and the bed was extremely comfortable. The service was
exceptional in that the dining and entertainment recommendations we received
made our trip truly memorable. We will look forward to going back to both
Victoria and the Gatsby Mansion.

My boyfriend and I spent two nights in the 'Judges House'. Our room was the
living room space of the mansion, turned bedroom. The first thing I noticed when
I walked in the room was the filthy, stained, shabby carpets. One side of the
wall and ceiling had stains as well. The mattress was terrible. You could feel
the springs, and hear them with every move. The bathtub leaked.
I have stayed at hostels more pleasant than this room. This was the worst sleep
I have ever had at a hotel.
The staff were friendly and the desk attendant to whom we complained to wrote
down all our complaints, so we hope they were passed on to a manager and were
followed up and action taken to make major upgrades. We were offered free lunch
at their restaurant to compensate but we declined.

The Mansion My husband and I first went to the Gatsby Mansion in the spring
2010, when we were pregnant with our first child. We were both blown away by the
charm of the mansion and the other houses on the property. It has a rich
history, and it has been so well maintained throughout the years. The features
of the home are breath taking. And the service was wonderful, the inn-keeper at
the time, Natasha, was amazing! She baked us fresh cookies every day for
afternoon tea (being pregnant, I truely loved that!!), and she was there to
answer all of our questions regarding the history of the mansion, and of
Victoria itself.
It was an amazing experience, and it has become a very special place for us. We
will be going back this July for our wedding anniversary and will be bringing
our baby girl along to enjoy it with us.
