Location, Breakfast and Wifi -- A Great Deal
The Dalton is centrally located and so it’s convenient for exploring Downtown
Victoria. We were impressed with the price which included breakfast and wifi.
I’ve stayed in 5 star hotels that do not include such features and have paid
triple the price for doing so. No more. The reception was helpful and friendly.
Thanks. Altogether a very pleasant stay and we found a very reasonable rate on

Best Value in Downtown Victoria
We’ve stayed at the Dalton over Thanksgiving weekend for the past 5 years and
love it. It’s a great location and a great value. Rooms are small but adequate
and nicely furnished. We’ll keep coming back. If the room had an arm chair it
would then be perfect for us.

Mediocre
The staff were exceedingly friendly and helpful on the whole, but this hotel
didn’t pass my "socks off" test. I wore shoes even after just getting out of the
shower and it took all three nights we were there to finally air out the room of
the mildew smell. The hotel is in a great location but it needs a renovation,
not just repeated painting over water damage. Guest Review of the Dalton Hotel & Suites

My partner and I stayed at the Dalton for 4 nights. The first 3 in a king luxury
suite and the final night in a queen boutique suite. The both suites were nice
and clean, spacious, the beds were comfy. It was a little noisy, only from the
traffic outside, but keeping the windows closed made a huge difference at night.
The location is perfect, within walking distance to everything. The restaurant
'The Office' was also a great little spot with live music most nights and a
decent menu. Being an older building it does have old smell to it but its not
extreme.
Although we had a great stay I did find it a little pricey. We downgraded to
save some money our last night and thought we'd try a standard suite. I wouldn't
recommend it, the standards need a lot of work and I would hope they plan to
reno those rooms too. They weren't even comparable to the other suites and it
did smell, the tv was ancient, made me think of truckers and hookers....it was
not a pleasant room, especially for $140. I spent a total of 2 minutes in there
and decided to go with the queen.... spend the extra few bucks, it's worth it!!
The Dalton has a charm to it and I look forward to coming back after they finish
the renos.
One thing that all the rooms were missing is a full length mirror. I had to
stand on a chair and use the small bathroom mirror.
The staff was great, very helpful and pleasant. We will definitely come back to
the Dalton.

We were a little worried about staying here after reading some of the reviews,
but decided to book a boutique room for the extra bucks and was really delighted
with the room. We had a room on the 3rd floor that was facing south and away
from the street. Loved the sun shining in the room all day. The room was plenty
big and was quiet. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom was clean. My only suggestion
would be to add a larger mirror above the desk. There was only one small mirror
above the sink and it was hard to see how you looked. Breakfast was great! We
would definitely stay here again.

We came to Victoria for a baby moon and found the staff and accommodations to be
great! The free breakfast was really nice (what more could you want?) and the
location was amazing. Our room was a little small but we were only in it to
sleep and relax in the evening. We really enjoyed our stay. The renovations on
our floor looked great and you can really see that the changes will be nice. We
would gladly stay here again!

This hotel was.... Okay.... I understand the cost for the location.... But it's
definitely not a hotel that will go to 4 star status anytime soon. I believe our
room was recently renovated because it had a new sink and newer flooring, fresh
paint and just an overall new feel to it. The craftsmanship was no more than
shoddy as the grout between the tiles was different colors, the toilet was not
sturdy... It rocked.... I'm sure the could put a shim under it to keep it
balanced. The toilet constantly ran unless you lifted the tank lid to drop the
plunger. The plaster on the walls was done by an amateur because you can see
major imperfections throughout. A hotel like this should have LCD TV,s rather
than no name early 90,s crts. The front desk is situated back in a small corner
when it should be out in the open for everyone to see. And no soaps with the DH
insignia... That's disappointing. The beds are very comfortable with slot of
fluffy pillows... The decor is nice too. They should really work on getting all
the room numbers on the doors cause one have fallen off. If you stay in room 243
make sure they have foxed the toilet....I've put in a suggestion at front desk.
All in all, it was a good place for
me and the wife to stay... The pro e was right and it was fairly nice... The
could do a lot better though.

This was our first time in Victoria so we were just looking for a centrally
located hotel for a decent price so we could walk through downtown and to the
bay. The Dalton was not only the cheapest but the only one that came with free
breakfast BONUS. Yes, the rooms are small. Yes, some of the furnishing look like
they are from a flee market. Yes, the building is old. But it was absolutely
perfect. What the hotel lacks in luxury it makes up for with an amazing staff
and an over the top continental breakfast. We will stay here again next summer.

We liked the location and the price. The receptionists and other staff were very
pleasant and helpful. There was no air conditioning and the weather was hot, but
there was a fan to use.
