Review of the Days Inn on the Harbour Victoria
Sep 20, 2010
Check in service- Got into the hotel late around 11pm on Friday Sept 10. There
was a sign which stated be back in a moment despite the fact there was a guy on
his computer in the back room. I ended up standing there for 10 min and had the
feeling he was ignoring me. He glanced at me every so often without approaching
the counter. However, the second my boyfriend joined my side, the guy was at the
counter in an instant. He turned out to be pompous, rude, and arrogant. When I
asked him questions regarding my visa, he talked down to me like I was an idiot.
I was not impressed. It was the worst check in I've ever had.
Room- I liked our room. It was nice and warm. However eventually it got pretty
stuffy so we opened the window and used the fan. It had a pretty view of the
harbour. I liked their green initiative by providing a recycling bin and not
washing towels unless needed. They also provide an umbrella. The room was clean
and had a large flat screen TV. I fell asleep on the firm bed and fluffy pillows
in an instant. And we barely noticed we had any neighbors. Nice and quiet. The
next morning, my boyfriend threw off the covers and we noticed there was a smear
of blood at the foot of the bed. It was about an inch. It didn't belong to
either of us and looked like it had gone through the wash.
Service #2- Went down to the counter to get our sheets changed. There were
several people ahead of us but the lady at the counter was pleasant, patient and
helpful with every client. When it was our turn, she was apologetic and assured
us it would be taken care of. I can't remember her name but she worked Sept 11
around 1130am. When we go back to our room that evening, our sheets had been
changed.
Check Out- Checked out Sunday Sept 12 noon. We appreciated this hotel had a late
check out time. The check out process was quick and easy and the lady at the
counter was equally kind and helpful as the lady the day before. We ended up
getting compensated for the bed sheets which we really appreciated.
Overall, I enjoyed the hotel. And yes, I'd recommend it
Pros- nice room, nice view, good value, free wireless internet, free parking,
requests were fulfilled
Con- the horribly rude pretentious service at late night check in

Thank you so much for taking the time to write of your recent stay at our Hotel.
I apologize for the less than appropriate checkin, and the clerk has been spoken
to and although didn't mean to come across in that way, knows to be more alert
and respectful. I am happy to hear that the rest of your stay was an enjoyable
one, minus the linen issue, and we hope you will give us an opportunity to
service your accommodation needs to your FULL satisfaction in the future! Thank
you again.

The positive - This hotel has a fantastic location as it is located directy
across the street from the Coho ferry and Victoria Clipper docks...the hotel is
literally a one minute walk from the ferry docks. The hotel is located just
across the street from the Victoria Harbor and within walking distance of the
harbor, bus stops, restaurants, and shopping. Our room had a great view of the
Inner Harbor. The room was equipped with a nice flat screen TV. Staff were
extremely helpful and friendly (especially Diane(?)). The room rate was decent
for the location of the hotel.
The negative - Our room was very small. The bathroom was one of the smallest I
have ever seen in a hotel (although it was equipped with a full bathtub). The
floor of the bathroom was about 6" higher than the floor in the rest of the room
so you had to "step-up" to enter the bathroom...this was kind of weird and posed
a trip hazard. As many others have mentioned - THERE IS NO AIR CONDITIONING in
this hotel. As there was a bit of a heat wave while we were there, our room was
very hot and uncomfortable. We had to open the window and use the provided small
fan to cool the room (maybe the staff could set up and start the fans before
folks check in?). Also, since the hotel is located right on the inner harbor and
a major street, when we opened the window it was very loud in the room. The
hotel elevator was the smallest I have ever seen in a hotel (only 2 people could
fit in it at a time).
Overall a well located and decent place if your stay is NOT during the summer
when an air conditioner or open window is needed.

We went with a group of friends to the "Deuce Days" celebration in Canada. We
stayed at the Days Inn, Victoria on the Harbour. The accommodations were great,
clean, their restaurant food was excellent. We didn't have to leave if we didn't
want to. When we had questions or concerns the staff went way beyond their realm
of service. The hotel is close to town and a lot of sights. You have a beautiful
view of the bay and are within walking distance of may sights. We had a grand
time and would recommend this hotel to others and plan a future trip back with
pleasure.

We had an excellent stay, no complaints whatsoever. We had a room right near the
pool, so cool. It was a bit busy because of the big car show that was there that
weekend, but great service. The location could not have been more perfect, 2
minutes from the harbour and the horse carriages, sweet. If you do stay here,
you should ask for Mike P, he has the sweetest accent, he's so cool. This hotel
is very basic, everything you need, couldn't' t ask for more. We had a great
stay...plus free internet.

All staff at this hotel -whether front desk, restaurant, or house-keeping- were
consistently friendly and efficient. That alone made us want to come back. In
addition, our room on the harbor-side had a spectacular view of the entire Inner
Harbour of Victoria. The room and all its amenities were clean and well
supplied, including the equipment and supplies in the kitchenette. The
decoration scheme was tasteful, with attractive new prints on the walls. The bed
was comfortable and a large king-size. The menu, food and service in the
associated restaurant were of high quality. The location, steps away from the
beauty and activity of the Inner Harbour, could not be better. We liked the
location/views and staff best. The harbor-side can be a bit noisy although it
quiets down later in the evening. The sliding windows block out most of the
noise.
