Went for a getaway weekend to Victoria. Got a suite at the Westin Bear Mountain
resort.
Well appointed and comfortable, only regret was that the time here was too short
would like to have stayed for a week.

Stayed for a night in October 2010 - I wished that we stayed longer. The room
was absolutely beautiful. I was upgraded - the room was spacious with a lovely
gas fireplace, well-appointed kitchen and huge bathroom. And of course the
comfortable Westin bed. Other than free parking and wireless internet, I don't
believe there was much else for Platinum members.
If you want to have a relaxing stay with beautiful scenery in Victoria (or play
golf or go to the spa), this is your place! It's a resort hotel so there isn't
too much around it. It's not close to downtown or much else. Be careful driving
up the mountain in the evening - there are lots of deer around.
We only stayed a night - I didn't have time to take a look at the amenities of
the resort hotel. Plus it was raining buckets. The great thing about this room
was that it was nice and comfy with the fireplace. If we had stayed longer, we
would have cooked meals in the kitchen and relaxed.

We stayed at this hotel for a quick weekend getaway to Victoria. Lovely location
with a lot of potential, unfortunately the hotel does not live up to the Westin
name. We had several issues with our room and the standard phase used by the
front desk was always, "we are terribly sorry, what can we do to help....."
Excuses, excuses for a poorly kept facility.
We had numerous problems with our door however the maintenance guy did fix
things for us finally however when we returned next time to our room we couldn't
get in.
My spouse lost an earring and I made the mistake of looking under the bed.
Positively disgusting, full of huge dustballs and dirt. I didn't bother to tell
her or she would have left the hotel in the middle of the night!
One day room service trays remained in the hallway for about 8 hours. The maid
and the maintenance guy both walked over the trays and they remained there for
many hours until finally collected in the middle of the night. I must admit that
the level of housekeeping and hotel service was more like a low quality chain
than the Westin.
We typically stay at Westin hotels because of the standard of service,
cleanliness of the rooms and attention to detail by the hotel staff. The first
thing that greeted us at this hotel is dirty hallways going up to our room.
It appears that this hotel is in serious economic situation and poorly staffed,
on site restaurants are not open every night. Given that the hotel is in the
middle of no where, this isn't ideal.
We did complain to management and were given some Westin frequent club points
but we will not return to this facility again.
Last view we had of this hotel was looking at three mattresses (heavenly Westin
Bed) all wrapped up in manufacturer's plastic sitting in the parking garage (for
the weekend). I would hate to think that my bed at this hotel had been lying on
the floor of the parking garage for weeks on end.
Just sloppy management and lack of control.

We only stayed one night and didn't golf but enjoyed our stay here. It's a
liitle out of town if you're visiting Victoria, but if you have a rental car,
it's not too bad. Breakfast was quite good, and the sushi restaurant that is
only a 2 minute walk is pretty good although it has very limited seating. Valet
parking is available but there's free parking right in front.

This is my fifth visit to this hotel over the past 5 years. We traveled this
time with our child and 7 other kids in our family reunion group. We had a great
stay - dining at both restaurants in the Clubhouse. I had a massage at the spa
and it was amazing (my second time at this spa). I highly recommend this
property. It's incredibly relaxing, quiet, and service was wonderful. Our kids
really enjoyed the outdoor pool - even though it was only 60 degrees. The pool
was well-heated and gym staff was wonderful.

This resort is probably very good if you are planning on an extended golf
holiday or skiing. We were there for just two nights and didn't really get to
use many of the resorts amenities, except for the great view from our balcony.
On arrival we were upgraded from the Fairways building to the main building and
a corner 1 BR suite. It was huge! The staff were very professional and friendly
at the front desk, the bar and the fitness center. I did use the workout room
one morning. The fitness center or Health Club as they refer to it was not in
the main building but next door up a small incline. There was also the swimming
pool and hot tub which we also didn't have time to use. My only suggestion would
be to either clean the carpets in the hallway or replace them as they were very
dirty in an otherwise beautiful resort.

From the moment we booked the hotel, my friends at Starwood took the utmost care
of us. Melissa Humble, at The W Hotel in San Diego, knowing that it was my new
husband and my honeymoon trip, went above and beyond. She secured an upgrade to
the most fabulous corner suite by working discreetly with Kevin at the front
desk at the Westin. Kevin was more than helpful with the upgrade, directions and
answers whenever I needed them. Jessica from service express was kind and
courteous with every phone call I made down. Overall, the resort is an amazing
place and should recognize the wonderful staff they have on hand! Thank you so
much for the memories, The Christensen's
