A friend and I booked this hotel as part of a cheap overnight package deal with
the Victoria Clipper. Given that it was $100 for round trip, plus a night's
hotel, I thought the place might be a dump. Happily, the Hotel Grand Pacific is
a slightly aged 4-star hotel, and nowhere near to qualifying for 'dump' status.
It's almost spitting distance from the Clipper dock, and a short walk to the
main tourist areas of Victoria (Government Street, the Parliament buildings, the
BC Museum, the Empress, etc.). Check-in and check-out were smooth and efficient.
They let us stay past the usual 11am check-out time, and then stored our luggage
in a secure office until it was time to return to the ship. Darrin was
especially helpful, as he called to make us reservations for tea, and showed us
on the map how to get there, and how to get to a restaurant we wanted to go to
the following day. He also told us the restaurant had changed names, which was a
big help in preventing us from wandering about lost!
The room was a reasonably good size with two queen beds, a desk that doubles as
a nightstand, a table with coffee and tea supplies, a TV, minibar, and most
helpful a sink both in and out of the bathroom. It was too cold to spend much
time on the balcony which had a partial view of the Parliament buildings. Most
importantly, everything was clean and orderly. The pool is currently closed for
renovations, but since we had no plans to visit the pool, this didn't bother us.
They were putting up Christmas decorations on the day we arrived.
All in all, I might not pay full rate to stay here, but if I booked another
package involving the Clipper, I would be more than happy to stay here again.

We visit Victoria a few times a year to visit family, and have tried different
hotels in search of a good fit, as I travel with my children and some hotels are
more child-friendly than others. On our last visit we tried the Hotel Grand
Pacific, as its location is excellent and it offers suites which gives parents a
place to be awake while the children go to sleep! From our first interaction
with the valet and bellman, the hotel staff were uniformly welcoming, friendly,
and professional. Every time I spoke with hotel staff I was impressed. I don't
usually write reviews but I was so happy at the Grand Pacific I feel compelled
to give credit where it's due. Our room was spacious, the bedroom was quite
large, with two double beds, a chaise longue and a TV armoire, and the suite
area was smaller (two armchairs and a desk and TV armoire) but sufficient for
our needs. We had a spectacular view of Victoria's very pretty harbor from our
many windows which were equipped with sheers and blackout drapes. The bathroom
was well lit, a feature becoming rarer in these days of power-saving bulbs, and
had two sinks. I know how fussy this sounds, but the towels were actually
absorbent, and not over-impregnated with softener. (This happens a lot and while
it does make the towels soft, it also reduces their absorbency and they just
push the water around. I find this irritating.) The decor was traditional, in
keeping with the hotel's dignified yet relaxed ambience, and the room was very
clean and well kept. If I were to quibble, it would be about the bed pillows
which were too high and hard to allow for comfortable head position. But this is
a small detail. Room service was prompt. The spa area was under construction at
the time, but that didn't worry us and we didn't hear any noise at all. I think
we've found our favorite hotel in Victoria! I could not have been more satisfied
by the service and the hotel itself was very gracious and attractive, in a
beautiful setting and location.

Great Location - Nice Hotel
The Grand Pacific is a very nice inner harbor hotel very conveniently located
nearly across the street from the Victoria Clipper dock and the parliament
building. The hotel is beautiful and is in easy walking distance from downtown.
The rooms are clean and comfortable and the beds are wonderful. The furniture is
not as fine as you would expect for this caliber of hotel, in fact it is what I
would expect of a 3 star facility except it is in perfect condition. We didn’t
interact much with the staff but they were polite and pleasant when we checked
in/out. We had a harbor view room (sort of)... If we put our head out over the
balcony and looked to our immediate right we could see water. Otherwise our view
was of the air conditioning ducts of the Best Western roof. Ask for a city view
room. Except for the lower quality of the furniture (sofa/chairs) none of this
is really under the hotels control. Overall it was a a better than average stay
but should be better for the price.

Will definitely return
Great hotel. Perfect location, friendly staff, and clean comfortable rooms. Room
on a lower floor with a harbor view was a bonus, as we expected a residential
view. The price was right. Will definitely return for another vacation. Love
Victoria!

My room overlooked the harbor and the Parliament Buildings (top corner room). We
enjoyed brunch in the restaurant and attended a gallery opening. The service was
great, I had to stay a bit longer and they extended my check out time. Great
rooms, very clean and polite staff - will stay here again for my next trip to
Victoria.

My new husband and I booked a package deal through the Victoria Clipper,
choosing a view suite as our lodging option. Little did we know we were to be
the lucky recipients of an upgrade to the Malahat Suite, which is on the 10th
floor. This room was exceptional - it had 2 bathrooms, 3 balconies, a fireplace,
and a Jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. We were overwhelmed and delighted - this made
our mini-honeymoon even more special than it already was. I have stayed in
Victoria about 4-5 times prior, and I will definitely return to this hotel. It's
beautiful, and the staff could not be more pleasant and inviting. I think
they've spoiled us for other hotels.
