Review of the Howard Johnson Hotel Victoria

My experience with this hotel was not good. I booked
kitchenette (mini suite) with all cooking amenities. But
quality of the available items were very poor. Utensils
quality were very bad and used (looks like very old).
Coffee maker was also broken (new one cost in the market
is 15 bucks..). In the room a very old TV was there,
which has no jack point (3 cable
points..red..yello..white) to connect your personal DVD
player. In my life I have not seen any TV without any
dvd player hook up point. I don’t know how this hotel
got this TV.

HoJo, Victoria City Center, truly do provide you with a
"home away from home". My wife and myself continue to
return here, (when in Victoria) because everyone on
staff continues to extend a feeling of warmth,
friendliness and service. Hats off to all!

I stayed here with my wife when we moved to Victoria for
an extended stay. After a dismal night in the Ramada up
the road, we decided to cancel our reservation there and
go to the Hojo. The front desk staff was wonderful, our
room was large enough that my wife and I didn't kill
each other in the three weeks we lived in a single room
and the kitchen was great for when we got tired of
eating out.
Our every need was catered to by the expert staff who
genuinely cared about the appearance of their hotel. As
other reviews did mention, its not the nicest looking
place on the outside, but it does make a very
comfortable home away from home.
If I only had one gripe, the bar downstairs gets a bit
rowdy on the weekend.

Our stay at the Howard Johnson Hotel was pretty good. We
stayed for a 5 days. The girl at the front desk was very
helpful. The only issue maybe was that the room smelled
a little like Bengay. The room also was super hot when
we first came in, but after asking the front desk we
figured out how to adjust the heater. And after the
first night the temperature was fine. The pool was
decent and the sauna was good too! The location was
convenient to where we needed to go everyday. All in all
it was a decent place to stay

The Kitchen suite was very functional and allowed me to
save a lot of money by eating groceries. The location
was very nice to me. The gorge area has a lot of modern
condos and walk/run/bike trails with excellent water
views. To save on parking i took the bus that
conveniently stops almost right out in front and goes
direct to downtown. I never used the swimming pool
facilities so i cannot comment. The staff were amiable
and helpful.

We have spent a few night at this hotel . The rooms were
clean, and comfortable. The staff helpful. It's not the
Ritz. For the money you pay, its very comfortable, and
friendly. Bus service to town almost outside the door.
It's a little out of the way, but close enough to be
able to get to most places. We couldn't ever figure out
if there was a continental breakfast. At no point was it
clear.

We were attending a conference and wanted kitchen
facilities. We stayed in the Executive Suite - 2 large
sofa beds with king size bed and separate bedroom. Since
we were situated on the top floor over the pub,
sometimes it got a bit too rowdy/noisy when the patrons
were ready to leave at 1:00 a.m. but otherwise it was
quiet. The kitchen had the basic cookware but whatever
we were missing Gerry the staff supervisor went out of
her way to try to obtain for us. The stove stopped
working and within 10 minutes of the call to the front
desk, an electrician was already working on it. The only
problems we encountered from the cleaning staff was that
they didn't always check to refill toilet paper ,
kleenex and shampoo dispenser in tub area. We enjoyed
the indoor swimming pool. The beds were very comfortable
and the unit itself was fairly cleaned. We would have no
problems recommending this hotel. There was plenty of
parking space and easily accessible to shopping mall and
downtown. Having The Galloping Goose Trail nearby was
just great for walking and venture downtown if you enjoy
this type of activity. We will definitively stay there
again if we return to Victoria.

We were in Victoria for a tournament and needed clean
quiet accommodation with a kitchenette. Used to stay
here a fair amount with another child for tournaments
and it was always clean and quiet with a well equipped
kitchen unit. The beds are comfortable, lots of free
parking, free WiFi in spacious rooms, well equipped
kitchen necessary to feed a growing athlete who never
seems to stop eating, and excellent front desk staff.
This is not a luxury hotel, but Victoria is really not a
luxury hotel city - most of its accommodation is dated
and overpriced. The Howard Johnson is dated but clean
and fairly priced. This is a reliable place to stay and
we'll be staying here each time we are in Victoria.
Similar accommodation in the Harbour area is
considerably more plus $12 for parking each night. It
was close to our tournament area and the mall, about 5
min drive from Downtown Harbour.

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I liked
this hotel. Extremely friendly staff, went out of their
way as far as service. The restaurant had some good
deals, not high end, but convenient. Laundry and parking
good, parking good and easy in/out. The room was
excellent and offer free movies!
