Guest Review of the Marriott Hotel Victoria Inner Harbor

Stayed here for five days, four nights. No car, we walked everywhere in
Victoria. Hotel was good location for that. Room was comfortable and quiet.
Used the hotel wireless on our iphones since we were out of US coverage, that
worked fine.
Did not try the restaurant for dinner, there are dozens of really good
restaurants within walking distance.
Staff was friendly and helpful. Concierge lounge is small, was over crowded one
morning and the comp'ed us a breakfast downstairs, very cheerful about it.

Having stayed at a number of hotels throughout the Pacific Northwest I have to
say that the Marriott has to be the best hotel that we have been in a long time.
The location is excellent, we walked from the hotel to Ogden Point, China town,
the cute part at the end of Cook St. where it meets Dallas.
The accommodations were superior, nice clean rooms, good size pool and
amenities. The restaurant was also very good.
Overall I have to comment on each and every staff that we had encountered as
each one was very service oriented this includes all hotel and restaurant staff.
Overall I can honestly say that our experience was 'Totally Outstanding'.

This hotel has a great location only a short walk to the harbor but away from
the noise. If you come into Victoria on the Pacific Coach bus from the Vancouver
ferry, the hotel is only about a block from the bus station. The ferry to/from
Seattle is also only a few blocks away. Our room was very nicely decorated and
the staff was very helpful with advice for choosing a whale watch and with
storing our luggage after we checked out.

We had a nice stay at the hotel. The rooms - one with a king bed and another
with two beds - and bathrooms were comfortable. The Bath and Body Works
toiletries were great. We were on the fourth floor facing another building so we
did not have a view. The best things about the hotel were its location and the
nice staff. It is convenient to the Inner Harbor, restaurants, and touristy
shops. It is typical of Marriott standards.

First i must say the location of the hotel is great. Even though not directly at
the Inner harbor, its more quiet and very short walking distance to the Inner
Harbor.
The atmosphere is like a normal modern nice Marriott. Just as you expect
Marriott to be -- you wont be disappointed.

I have not generally stayed in Marriott - I tend to stay at Hilton's and
sometimes Hyatt's. But both the facility and staff were great -- somehow the
staff managed to be extremely courteous , helpful, and project an "upscale"
without being over-the-top bordering on condescending, which I sometimes feel at
the Hyatt's. I'd highly recommend it.

The Hotel is in the middle of everything in downtown Victoria. As long as you
are concentrating on Victoria's downtown attractions you don't need a car since
whale watching companies, all attractions, shops and restaurants are within 5
minutes walking distance. Comfortable rooms! An upgrade to have access to the
executive lounge is highly recommended.

Victoria has plenty of hotels, but the Marriott is #1 in my opinion. Both of us
previously lived in Victoria so we know the location, and we've had very good
experiences with other Marriott's, so that's why we booked in the first place.
But, we'll come here again simply because our accommodation, the view and the
service was beyond our expectations. We arrived on a Sunday, and were upgraded
to a corner suite on the 11th floor. Layout is similar to that described in the
Aug. 6 review by 'Being Green", but our decor was French Country. We had the
breakfast buffet, and if you go to the buffet, make sure you go earlier, rather
than later, in the morning. By 8.30am, we found that the eggs, sausages etc.
were quite cold. The next day, we went earlier, and everything was nice & hot.
We didn't book a whale watching tour, but didn't need to -- our ferry was held
up for about a half hour by a large pod of whales crossing our bow -
spectacular! We saw seals & salmon jumping on the way to Victoria, but seeing
that pod on our return trip was quite a treat.
Vancouver-based travelers might be interested to know that the Marriott is very
convenient for transit - we walked on the ferry, and picked up the #70 bus just
outside the Swartz Bay terminal. The bus stops a half block from the hotel, and
the fare's only $2.50. Downtown Victoria is very walkable, and we didn't need
the car at all.
All in all, a wonderful experience, and a great value!
