Guest Review of the Harbour Towers Hotel Victoria

Two friends and I spent 3 nights here--we came from
Seattle on the Clipper which arrived at 11:15 so we were
at the hotel before noon knowing that check-in wasn't
until 4 but hoping we could leave our luggage and walk
to lunch. We were able to check in right then without
any problems. It was a wonderful location--easily within
walking distance of the major attractions. We looked out
to the harbor and enjoyed the view and watching the
activity. The room was large with 2 queen beds and 2
sinks which makes getting ready much easier. The entire
hotel staff that we encountered was friendly and
helpful. We would definitely go back again!!

We spent 4 days at this hotel. Check in was quick and
efficient, the lobby is always busy but so is Victoria
in the summer. This hotel is one block off the harbor
which is an excellent location to be. Close to the
harbor and all the touristy things that Victoria has to
offer, but far enough away for a little quiet and less
traffic. The hotel has seen better days it's old and
dated but they keep it clean. But this seems to be the
norm for most of the hotels in this price range around
the harbor. The rooms are big, we had a king suite, 2
tv's, fridge, cook-top, toaster, coffee, microwave.
Ceiling fans (no AC) and lots of windows to open for
fresh air (no screens). Our room was advertised as
having a balcony (that's one of the reasons for choosing
it) the balcony was about 2 feet wide so you could stand
on it but sitting wasn't an option. We were on the 5th
floor and seemed the rooms on the upper floors had
larger balconies ( moving or upgrading wasn't an option
as the place was full) The restaurant has a buffet
breakfast as well as menu service which was average
(same thing every day) The wait staff, Cassandra and RJ
were excellent, friendly and good source of things to do
for the day. The lounge closes early (11 or 12 am) so if
you want a drink late go to one of the close by beer and
wine stores and go to your room. Overall all of the
hotel staff were great a couple of rude ones but you
can't win all. I would recommend this hotel for everyone
and would definitely return again.

Hotel was located in a relatively ideal location for us,
close enough to the inner harbour and other attractions
for ease of walking, but away from heavily trafficked
roads. Underground parking (included on our direct
booked package) was at times at a premium but we always
managed to find a spot. Lobby looked spacious and modern
and check-in ran smoothly. Rooms and hallways were a
little dated and there was a bit of a musty smell but
nothing unpalatable. The beds were comfortable without
being great, and the room's amenities were acceptable,
again without any outstanding qualities. Our room, on
the 4th floor, was at times a little noisy. Our door had
pretty generous gaps above and below and hallway
conversation was easily heard. Vehicle noise (tourist
buses stopping etc) on the frontage road was also pretty
loud. We still managed to sleep through the night mind
you. Without having stayed at other Victoria
accommodation I cannot comment on local value for money.
In relation to our other west coast trip accommodation,
if pushed I'd say it was just on the lesser value side,
taking into account inclusions, cleanliness and overall
impression.

I stayed for 5 nights in Victoria with my girlfriend and
my brother and we got a 2 bedroom suite in Harbour
Towers for a very good rate on Expedia (which worked out
a lot cheaper that booking direct through the hotel).
As others have said, the rooms are slightly dated and
could do with some refurbishment, however they were
clean, spacious and the location of the hotel is only a
3 or 4 minute walk from the centre of town - just far
enough away to not get the noise without actually being
a long walk. Staff were all friendly and helpful - we
had a problem where the door to our room was difficult
to open and they sent someone up within 10 minutes who
sorted it out.
The restaurant / bar attached to the hotel was also very
good - highly recommend having a meal there. The hotel
also offers free internet connection in the rooms (not
wireless though) as well as a gym / swimming pool (which
we didn't use)

Stayed 2 nights, 29 and 30 July. The view...amazing.
Picture-perfect view of the harbor, the Empress and
portions of the Parliament Building. Gorgeous sunrises
and sunsets! Directly across from the Victoria Clipper
terminal and at the start of harbor circle, a perfect
distance from the downtown area - - walked it everyday.
The rooms were large and had more amenities than higher
priced hotels (fridge, micro, in-room coffee pot). Even
had a toaster and electric kettle! Recent renovations
are obvious - sparkling clean tub which was welcoming
for a long soak after all day walking. Loved Vic's - the
restaurant on site. GREAT specials in the lounge every
day and we enjoyed our meals - did breakfast, happy hour
and dinner. Complimentary internet access as well as use
of business center (on-line access) if you didn't bring
your own computer. The service throughout the hotel was
an A+ for sure. We would definitely recommend this hotel
and will stay again.
