I was nervous about staying here, but figured it was only one night and
there are mixed reviews about this place and I found a good deal for it,
but you definitely get what you pay for...
The thing nobody mentions in the reviews is that the hotel is located
RIGHT above Buffalo Bills, a Whistler nightclub. And I don't mean that
Bills is up the hill... I mean that it is in the same building,
downstairs from the hotel rooms. My room was right above the bar and it
was LOUD... the bass thumping until about 2am. Now that I've stayed
there, I took another look through the other reviews - not only is the
nightclub not mentioned, but the management response to one review
glosses over the potential source of noise.
The management says "The Adara Hotel is located in the heart of Whistler
Village, amidst the hustle and bustle of many restaurants and bars. On
occasion the hotel guests may hear the buzz of activity and patrons of
the local bars as they close at night."
Based on my personal experience, this is potentially misleading to the
Adara's clients who read these reviews. While people on the street can
be one source of noise for sure, when I stayed there it was raining the
whole time so people in the village were not the issue. The issue was
lack of soundproofing that resulted in being kept awake until about 2am.

You had to put up with so much BS from myself and other students from
Washington that I feel bad. Your hotel is great and the bed was soooo
comfy. I love the pool and hot tub and love whistler.
This weekend I know you had to deal with blood everywhere in the hotel a
fire alarm prank and parties in the rooms and lots of noise and every
passed out everywhere. I am really sorry because you were super nice and
really cute guy when we saw you first and then that last night before we
were heading home you were this timid and broken down man. I felt awful
and still do. Really sorry we put you through all this crap.
The hotel is great the location is great the bed is amazing and the room
has a beautiful view of the mountain. I would not change anything for
the world except for a nicer and quieter stay and hope that guy at night
would have had a less stressful time at work. He was amazing and really
showed maturity and reminded us how immature we were for young adults.
Thank you Mike and I hope you get more thanks than the words I heard you
receive from drunks in my school who did not know better and have yet to
grow up and know what the real world is all about and that is respect. I
am sorry for what i did to make it worse on you.

I was very disappointed with my stay at the Adara over the Christmas
holidays. I knew something was up when I had called to speak to the
concierge 3 weeks prior to my stay asking for restaurants
recommendations. The woman responded by saying "Whister has a lot of
great restaurants!" I ended up calling another hotel to get the
information I was looking for.
Once I arrived I noticed that the front desk personnel, concierge and
valet parking attendant were taken care by one person. The check in was
uneventful, but for a hotel that claims to be a "boutique hotel," it has
a ways to go. The room was quite large and the bed was comfortable;
however, the cleanliness of the room was questionable. The room was
dusty and the decorative pillow on the bed was stained with a previous
hotel guest's dinner. The bathroom towels were second rate - the kind
that you get a fitness club. There were water stains on the shower
ceiling and hot water - limited. Out of the 4 days I stayed there, my
room was only cleaned up twice.
Amenities are limited at the hotel. No pop machine, no ice machine and
no stocked bar in the hotel room. There was $5 bottles of water in the
fridge and complimentary coffee. However, the coffee mugs had been used
previously and not washed (very disgusting).
Noise is a problem at this hotel as it is located over a nightclub. From
9:30 pm to 2 a.m. most nights, be prepared to hear the music play and
the sound of the bass vibrate your room. You'll be wasting your time
speaking to the front desk - they won't do anything for you. They will,
however, move you to another room at a cost.....
The business centre is a joke. It is located near the front desk and
consists of a computer, printer and small desk. There is a charge to use
it. Internet in the room is spotty at best.
The only positive experience about this hotel is its location. It is
close to the Village - other hotels, restaurants, bars, lounges and, of
course, the ski lifts. You couldn't ask for anything better.
Next time...I'll pass on the Adara. For the amount of money I spent at
this hotel, it certainly wasn't worth it. There are better hotels in
Whistler which would be happy to have me as a customer. |
