Hotel Reviews of Marquise Lodge Whistler

First of all, the hotel was hard to find. The sign sits too low to be
seen at night. We only found it via a GPS device that said we were
there. We arrived around 8 and there was nobody at the desk. We were not
aware that we had to go to another location to get the key. Considering
that this unit has a kitchen, one would assume that there might be some
basic supplies there. Nothing. Not even a salt shaker. Dishes, pots and
pans were adequate, but be forewarned that there was nothing in the line
of cooking basics. The coffeemaker had a hotel packet of coffee, and few
packets of sugar and "whitener", and that was it. Even the ice-cube
trays were empty. Ski in-ski out? Yes, but you better ask someone how to
do it. You could ski in to the stop sign across the road, but you'd
never know it unless someone told you. Same thing about the
ski-out....you have to walk over to the Aspens to get to it. Overall a
great trip!

The room was clean, adequate and the facility was nice. I would stay
there again, now that I am familiar with it....but I would look at other
options, too, for the price paid. Getting into the village was a bus
ride, and it isn't something to be done spontaneously. It's a trip. The
bus was to come every 20 minutes, although others said they had been
waiting 30+ and we waited another 20 for it.

Located in a residential district away from the village, the Marquise is
a quiet condominium-style hotel ideally suited to families, couples, and
others looking for a relaxed ambience. The hotel also is less than (182
meters) 200 yards from Cruiser, a ski run on Blackcomb Mountain that you
can use to schuss their way directly into Whistler Village. You have
access to an outdoor pool, sauna, and outdoor spa tub. There are ski
lockers, coin laundry, and secured underground parking. The Marquise is
less than one mile from Upper Village, a shopping area at the base of
Blackcomb Mountain with boutiques, a grocery store, a beer and wine
store, and equipment rental shops. A complimentary shuttle operates from
6 AM until midnight (hours subject to change) between the hotel and both
Upper Village and the main village below.

We found the hotel fairly easily, very reasonable rate found on
www.allure-hotels.com . I didn't know what to
expect based on the previous reviews, but we were pleasantly surprised.
It was very neat, clean, and the rooms were nicely decorated. The
"ski-in ski-out" was a short walk across the street, but still close
enough to be convenient. The desk is only open certain hours though, so
if you arrive late like we did, you need to check in at a different
building down in the village which got a little confusing. Overall a
great value though and a wonderful trip!

Hoping to capitalize on the late season snow dump in April 2009 we
booked the hotel through the Whistler Blackcomb Official website
"Accommodations" tab. Arriving about 9 pm, there was nobody at the front
desk, and we had to drive to a nearby property to pick up our parking
and room keys. True to the posted photos, the lobby looked new, and
clean, and the amenities were lovely. But once you entered the hallway
to the rooms, it was like something out of a horror movie. It was dimly
lit, the carpets were dirty, and smelled musty. Our room was even worse.
The carpets were filthy, there was mold on the ceilings, and the
furniture was literally rotting. Growing up with working parents who
loved to travel, I've slept in my share of budget accommodation but this
was by far the worst I have ever encountered. It was advertised as a one
bedroom that sleeps four, however, one would not sit on the pull-out
couch with clothes on, much less let young children sleep on it. Shame
on ResortQuest Whistler for even offering this offending unit to the
public. You'd be better off sleeping on the floor of an airport toilet.

The Marquise at Blackcomb, first of all, the hotel was hard to find. The sign

out? Yes, but you better ask someone how to do it. You could ski in to the stop
sign across the road, but you’d never know it unless someone told you. Same
thing about the ski-out....you have to walk over to the Aspens to get to it. I
thought the pricing was in Canadian dollars, since I thought I was booking a
room in Canada. Bare in mind, Hotels.com is a US entity and it says once, on the
confirmation, that rates are USD. That was overlooked on my part, so the room
ended up not being as great a deal as I thought. The room was clean, adequate
and the facility was nice. I would stay there again, now that I am familiar with
it....but I would look at other options, too, for the price paid. Getting into
