Review of the Pan Pacific Hotel Whistler Mountainside
Jan 25, 2011
We recently stayed at the Pan Pacific mountainside (not the village
suites) and would recommend it highly. We chose it for the proximity to
the gondolas and chair litfts, and also the ski school - and that proved
to be the correct decision.
The suite we booked was overlooking the base of the lifts - so we could
essentially be in our rooms overlooking the end of day when everyone
finished their ski schools. The kids could easily walk home (and drop
their skis at the front door in the VIP ski storage). Our spa and pool
overlooked the same area - in prime position for the fireworks each
Sunday.
The rooms were fine - a 2 bedded with 2 bathrooms. We also had a roll
away for our third child - and it was comfy too.
Staff at the front desk were excellent - always helpful as and when
required.
If we go back to Whistler again - I would have no hesitation going back.
Note we are a family that usually stay at 4 to 5 star hotels - and it
met this standard comfortably.
For restaurants that we thought were of a good standard too - the
Italian Tratt over the road was very good, as well as the Sushi (just
round the corner) and the Restaurant at the other Pan Pacific (Village
suites) - with an Asian theme.
We hired skis and a snowboard from Salmon within the hotel complex. Not
sure how they compared on price - but the gear was very good, and their
service was excellent. Also conveniently located for swapping stuff and
any "tune ups"

Accommodations for Couples Both PPs in Whistler rock. Great rooms, great
location and some of the best staff we've come across. Sure there are
fancier places to stay in Whistler but are there any who can deliver on
the service promise every time in rooms and facilities that are
genuinely great. If you want a genuinely great ski break pick either Pan
Pacific and enjoy.
Tips. Mountainside is best for; ski in ski out, king size beds in one
bed suites, the Irish bar
Village best for; breakfast included, slightly newer, have a beer in the
hot tub.
Stay here, contentment guaranteed.

Accommodations for Solo travel You can't ask fro a better location -
right next to the two gondallas. Can't say I am enamored with the room
and the Murphy bed style. Basically there are rooms that your bed is a
Murphy bed (in the wall and you have to pull it down to sleep). This
gives you a little more space to move around when you are not sleeping,
but I don't like it.
Rest of the hotel is fine - it's the location that matters and that's
perfect. I stayed in between Christmas and new year and the rates were
astronomical, but so was everywhere else if they had any vacancies.

Accommodations for Friends getaway The reservations agent was so great
at finding us a room that would work for 2 couples going away for the
weekend. The 2 bedroom suite came with 2 bathrooms and the bedrooms were
on opposites sides without sharing a wall. The kitchen was big enough to
have a few of us cooking up a storm and the location was perfect. Just
far enough away from the clubs to not be noisy but close enough to be a
part of it all.

Accommodations for Couples There is no better location in all of
Whistler. Both the Blackcombe and Whistler gondolas are literally steps
away. You walk out the door and there they are.
The hotel staff is very accommodating, friendly and professional.
The rooms are quite nice. We got a great deal on a one bedroom suite on
the "valley side." You're not looking directly at the mountain, but the
views were still lovely. There's a great full kitchen complete with dish
washer, microwave, refrigerator, etc. There's a gas fireplace and flat
screens in both the living room and bedroom. Free wifi is also
available.
The hotel also has a small gym, steam sauna, pool and outdoor hot tubs.
There's a great Irish pub as well with live music on some nights.
There's also a sports and apparel shop on the first floor.
My partner and I were traveling with my parents who didn't ski and they
loved it just as much as we did.
This hotel has it all and again, you can't beat the location.

Accommodations for Couples This is a great hotel right at the base of
Whistler Mountain, with ski-in-ski-out access to both Whistler and
Blackcomb Mountains. It's definitely 4 star though. The Fairmont has a
much nicer lobby and pool area. This is the hotel for you if you want to
have a big suite, which for us was about as much as for a regular room
at the Fairmont. I've stayed at the Four Seasons in Whistler before.
This is definitely the choice over that. The pool and Jacuzzi at the
four seasons aren't good and the location there is terrible. Our suite
at the Pan Pacific was very nice. Had a gas fireplace and huge vaulted
ceilings and a full kitchen. We cooked in the kitchen and the cleaning
staff cleaned the kitchen and dishes every morning. The salt-water pool
and Jacuzzis overlook the slopes. The service was very excellent and
completely friendly and can-do. The ski-in-ski-out access of this hotel
is the best in Whistler.

Accommodations for Couples This hotel is spectacular! Our room wasn't
ready when we went to check it out so we went back down to make sure it
was the right room. The hotel clerk apologized like 10 times and gave us
an upgrade room for free. The room was amazing! All stainless steel
appliances, dishwasher, fireplace, deck and more. Located in Whistler
Village and in the backyard of Blackcomb. Parking was like 25$. I would
definitely go back! |
