Hotel Review of the
Sundial Boutique Hotel Whistler

Booked our stay with Shelley at Tour de Sports so did not know what exactly to
expect. We had a great stay with great skiing. But the staff at the Sundial
Hotel at the base of the mountain - 30 seconds walk to the Gondola - by
themselves is worth the stay. They were the most professional and the
friendliest group of people we've ever stayed with. Angela Cook behind the front
desk is a complete joy. Graham and Jason were always cheerful and looked after
us and all of our needs. They called restaurants for us, made reservations, gave
us maps and drew directions, all with terrific energy. I'm telling you it made
an impression on us. We'll come back.

I stayed here with my husband for a 10 night ski holiday, on our second trip to
Whistler. We were in a one bed suite on the 4th floor, and according to the
floor plan, in the smallest room on the floor. Despite this, we found the suite
spacious, well appointed and comfortable. The bedroom, living area and bathroom
are independently temperature controlled, which is ideal for drying out wet kit.
We loved the heated bathroom floor, and it’s always a treat to be provided with
a bathrobe.
This suite has everything you could possibly need including two televisions,
lockable safe, coffee maker, dishwasher, microwave, cooker, fridge/freezer and
plenty of kitchen utensils. The bed is enormous and very comfortable.
We chose not to pay extra for a mountain view, balcony or hot tub, and while I’m
sure these would have been nice, we didn’t miss them.
There is secure ski storage where reception staff take equipment from you as you
return to the hotel, and hand it back as you exit in the morning. Staff are all
very friendly, helpful and professional. They always had a welcoming smile as we
walked past reception, and had plenty of patience when we repeatedly messed up
setting the safe.
The location was great – situated right at the bottom of Whistler mountain, and
very close to the main village near lots of bars and restaurants
The only downside was the noise on a few nights. We stayed over Marin Luther
King weekend (think Spring Break), and we could hear loud teenagers in the
streets below. I could also hear snow ploughs early on in the mornings.
Be aware there is nowhere convenient outside of your room to wax boards and
skis.

Just returned from 10 days at the Sundial. Fantastic location by the lifts and
the apartments are a decent size. However this place is not cheap and markets
itself as a somewhat upscale establishment and does not live up to this,
specifically:
- while the apartments have been upgraded in a reasonably tasteful fashion, the
work is partial and , for example, the bathrooms appear untouched for many years
and are decidedly scruffy. There is also a bizarre shortage of light making
tasks like unpacking almost impossible.
- front desk staff are friendly but quite useless if you want anything done
(other than getting skis out)
-no common areas in the hotel aside from a few sofas by the front desk and a
rather depressing hot tub nestling by aerials on the roof

From the moment we arrived we were given the most delightful service, from
checkin with the manager david offering us a upgrade for free, which meant our
own hot tub on the balcony, to every silly question and need I required
throughout the week all staff happily and professionally served us, in fact of
all the places in the world that I have stayed at, I would have to say that this
hotels staff were collectively the best ever. The location was superb, our skis
were handed to us each morning and then it was a hop, skip, and jump to the
gondolas. The beds were amazing too good, no one wanted to get out in the
morning. This was a wonderful boutique hotel that will care for your every need,
warmly welcome you and place you on the ski slopes or restaurants in minutes
Highly recommend it.

I stayed for one night in mid November and lucky me struck the first snowfall of
the season - nothing like waking up in the morning to find a wonderland outside!
My room was on the top floor - well laid out, with a well equipped kitchen, nice
lounge and extremely comfortable bed in the separate bedroom. Management had
just replaced all the mattresses and asked for our feedback - definitely a
thumbs up from me!
Staff on reception were very friendly and welcoming.
Great location right at the top of the village, at the base of Whistler
Mountain.
Had a look at the hot-tub on the top floor - not a particularly appealing
setting.
The small TV in bedroom was faulty - reported to reception so was hopefully
repaired for next guests.
Overall a nice hotel and would definitely recommend

My wife and I have stayed here twice, and we would happily go back in a second.
The rooms are superbly kept, every person working there is friendly, and the
atmosphere is laid back and totally friendly.
I would like to give a special thank you to Liz and Martine from Guest Services
for helping me to secure the Hot Tub room that I wanted, for helping to get a
birthday cake for my wife, and for recommending the Scandinave Spa as a place to
relax. Also, thank you to Graham. He always seemed to be working, but always
took the time to greet us.
You can't go wrong with this hotel at all. If you get the chance, do check it
out.
