Hotel Review of the Crystal Lodge Hotel Whistler
Sep 28, 2010
After our daughter's wedding 3 weeks before (we live in Ontario) and our nieces wedding just two days before in Abbotsford, B.C., and after 14 years of having not been totally alone with my husband on a vacation without any of our 4 children, we sure were both looking forward to some leisure, fun and quiet time in Whistler at the Crystal Lodge. WE WERE DEFINITELY NOT DISAPPOINTED!!! From the moment we pulled up to the back (street) front lobby at this hotel, we were greeted by two helpful attendants standing outside the hotel to greet and help us. Throughout our stay there, the staff at the front desk were always smiling and more than helpful, always going out of their way to help or explain anything and whatever they could to make our 3 day stay as enjoyable as possible. When we told one of the smiling, happy young man at the front desk that we were from Mississauga, Ontario, he totally lit up and told us he was from this city too - his family lived only 10 minutes from our home! What a welcome we had from him! We loved our room which was absolutely spotless! Very impressed. Our room faced the back (street) front lobby entrance and it was always quiet. We were never bothered by noise at all. This hotel is beautifully located in the centre of the village! Perfect! Fabulous places to eat, drink, with trails to walk along close by and a 2-minute walk to the gondola/peak-to-peak! There's even a wonderful and cheap $5 breakfast (two eggs, toast, bacon, orange) just steps away from Lodge too! The Spaghetti Factory is just one of the restaurants in this hotel and a great place to eat - inexpensive, hot and delicious! I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone! If I were to return again to Whistler, the Crystal Lodge Hotel would be my first and only choice - it would be like being in heaven in every way! Thanks to all the staff at this hotel for making the time my husband and I spent in Whistler the most memorable and enjoyable time ever!

I rated the hotel very good, because of its central location and value. The rooms were ok. I hit my head on the ceiling going out to the balcony. The air conditioning was a unit stuck in the wall that droned loudly and didn't cool the room very evenly. We were also surprised to return to our room while it was being cleaned even though we had called housekeeping to request them not to do so (the hotel donates $5 per person to charity when the housekeeping service is not needed). The sauna was cold. Breakfast was expensive. It is a good place to sleep, while enjoying Whistler.

The Crystal Lodge was a great place to enjoy our friend's wedding. Our room had beautiful exposed wood beams and a balcony overlooking Whistler. The king sized bed was comfortable and the sheets very soft! Our room also came with very comfy robes. We ate at Rics grill for the reception and it was delicious! The central location of the hotel enabled us to check out the shops and restaurants in the village. The outdoor Jacuzzi and swimming pool were a great start to the day after a long night out. All of the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. We would definitely stay here again!!

We were not planning on staying in Whistler thinking it may be too pricey for us! but we are so glad we did. The rates at this time of the year are exceptional for this quality of accommodation and service and location. From the moment we rode up on our motorbike, the staff were friendly, courteous and efficient. Our room was of the highest quality, clean and well maintained. The location right in the village was perfect and we enjoyed Whistler Village and will definitely return, net time for a couple of nights at least. This hotel stay was the highlight of our road trip this year.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. Our team will be very excited to hear that we were the highlight of your trip ! You make a great point that Whistler is still perceived as expensive, when much of the year it is actually great value and less expensive (at least hotels) than many other locations. We look forward to welcoming you back - summer or winter - and having you stay for a little longer as you stated.. There is too much to see and do in just a day or two !

When I visit Whistler, I love to stay at the Crystal since it has that great combination of comfortable, modern rooms with friendly associates.
I have stayed in a few rooms here and always enjoyed the amenities. They have a few dining options to choose from which is awesome. (They even have a Starbucks that you can get to from the lobby)
Everyone is always very helpful and takes the time to speak with me on a personal level. If you are in Whistler and you want to stay in the middle of the village near everything, I would recommend this location.

LOVED our stay here - we had a King Suite room 142 in the lodge wing. It included a kitchen which was great to cook meals in. One complaint - very sparse on the knives and they were very dull (only two cutting knives, and we joked that a butter knife could cut better than both of them!). Wonderful king bed, with room darkening curtains. We had a view of the inner roundabout where you check in to the hotel, but beyond the hotel are mountains everywhere, so we did get a tiny nice view too! Large flat-screen tv and very large bathroom.
The hot tub was nice to enjoy at night until 10pm. Towels are provided right by the pool/hot tub.
Parking is not included (bummer, but nowhere seems to really include parking). It's normally $20 a night, but if you book a package like we did, you can get a discount on half off your parking, a $5 starbucks gift card each, and free wireless internet. Not sure if this package is offered year-round or just the summer. We were here two nights in August. Best to check the hotel website and then look at their packages. I found them to be a better deal than any of the offerings for the Crystal Lodge on websites such as expedia.
You can't get a better location. You are just steps to the gondola up the mountain, to ride the well-worth it "Peak to Peak" gondola at the top. Shopping, restaurants, and bars are just outside your hotel as well. We never experienced any noise problems, but we weren't facing the village stroll so I don't know if it's different on that side of the hotel.
I would definitely try to stay here again the next time I'm in Whistler!
