I booked room nights, boardrooms and catering at the Aava Hotel for the 9th
annual Whistler Readers and Writers Festival (2010). The staff I dealt with were
knowledgeable, friendly and experienced and guided me through the process by
asking all the right questions. This made my job as festival organizer much
easier. The boardrooms (three in total) were set up as we discussed, had plenty
of light and all the equipment our guests requested was ready to go. The food
was fabulous during coffee breaks and lunch breaks. Guest authors were asked to
complete evaluation forms about the festival, i.e. what they liked and didn't
like. Several mentioned that they loved the hotel because the rooms were
spacious and comfortable, the location of the hotel gave excellent access to all
Whistler has to offer, and staff were very friendly and helpful. Festival
participants were also asked to comment. 90% of the participants who commented
indicated they loved the small hotel feel of the Aava, the location, the free
parking, and the helpfulness of the staff. I would definitely use the Aava hotel
again for any business and/or pleasure travel.

Stayed two nights at the Aava Whistler Hotel during the Thanksgiving long
weekend and our family loved it! It's relatively new, very clean and trendy!
Great friendly and helpful staff. Hotel rooms are quite small BUT the
cleanliness, Aveda toiletries and light spa smell of the rooms make up for it.
Our two boys (3 year old and a 4 year old) loved the fact the hotel provides
TreeHouse for them to watch. Very comfy beds.
Loved the fact White Sport is just right across from the hotel. Negative aspect
of the hotel is the pay parking and the mini fridge is not cold enough. And you
have to pay for internet access in the lobby but this being said, there's free
WiFi in the rooms. They have iPod docking stations so iPhone users, bring your
chargers. Very close walking distance to the village. I was able to find much
cheaper prices on www.allure-hotels.com
than on the hotel's own website
Housecleaning does a wonderful job of cleaning our room every morning. Love the
fact the bathrooms provides enough towels and love the shower curtain! Top of
the shower curtain is sheer so that there's enough light. Love the fact that the
shower curtain is a two in one.

I traveled to Whistler for a short business trip. Whistler village is great and
is home to some of the friendliest people I've ever met, including the hotel
staff at Aava.
The location was perfect...right across the way from the conference center, and
right near the village stroll.
The staff were very nice and accommodating. I needed to have several packages
(about 12) sent there for business and they were waiting for me when I arrived.
When I needed to leave a few days later, the staff allowed me to leave all of
those packages there to be picked up a few days later for shipment out.
The room was very comfortable and the bathroom was probably the cleanest hotel
bathroom I've ever seen. The carpet in the room was a little dirty, but that's
typical of hotel carpets. My only complaint w/ the room was the TV. They had a
very nice flat screen television, but unfornately the channel numbers did not
appear on the screen so you had no idea what channel you were on. Also the
remote didn't work properly. It only accepted the first number and the channel
would change, so if I wanted 25, I would get channel 2, if I wanted channel 41,
I would get channel 4, etc. I had to use the up/down channel button to navigate
and it again had no idea what channel I was on.
Other than the TV issue, my stay was great and I would definitely stay at Aava
again.

Having grown up and still living in Vancouver i have been in or stayed in almost
every place in Whistler. While they are very few bad places to stay in Whistler
and some really amazing places with big ticket prices; the Aava hotel is
something that whistler has been missing for a long time a nice modern hotel
with good service and a good location at great prices. The Aava is less than 100
meters from the main square in the old Whistler village (just behind the driving
range [a stones throw from the Hilton etc..]). The building is nice and new and
modern but at the same time basic and not luxury. The building is well layed out
and convenient to navigate throughout and features a small pool, hot tub and
sauna (didn't go in any of these as we traveled with a two month old). A nice
extra, especially traveling with a new born, was having a small fridge that
wasn't a mini bar where we could store milk etc Also there is a White Spot
attached to the hotel, I booked through Travelocity (as opposed to the Aava
site) cause it was a slightly (by like $5) better price and it included a
breakfast at White Spot for two. The front desk says that your room is
guaranteed to be ready at 4pm for check in and 11am is the check-out time. You
can go as early as 11am they say to see if they are ready for you to check-in.
We were there exactly at 11am and our room was ready (it was mid-week in
mid-October though) and then I asked for an upgrade and they said there was
plenty of room so they gave us a top floor w/ mountain view room (looked over
the driving range). Really nice and helpful staff. The few negatives are that
they still charged $16 for parking p/day which wasn't disclose when booking and
the rooms are a little skinny and it was hard to get the stroller through the
door/entrance to the room. Also, I wish this place was pet friendly, I think
everyplace nowadays especially those hotels that are newly built should be pet
friendly. Whistler is an outdoor destination with alot of local tourists who
like to take their dogs on their outdoor excursions.

A good makeover for the previous Coast, Whistler. Room was clean and comfortable
bed although on the small side with a a very small bathroom.
Would agree with the soundproofing issues as we could hear the bathroom flush
from below us. Also the mower from the golf range next door woke us at 8:00 a.m.
Overall the rooms were not very soundproof.
White Spot offered poor service as a result we only visited once. |
