Hotel Review of the Crystal Lodge Hotel Whistler
Aug 16, 2010
After reading other reviews here, I found the Crustal Lodge to be a better and
quieter property than expected. Good location, right on the "Stroll."
Rooms in the hotel section are small, but after reading the history of the hotel
I understood the original objectives (and was reminded of Nancy Green's role in
the development of both the hotel and Whistler). The history also explained the
several steps between the lodge and the hotel rooms.
Good hot tub (actually hot and with strong jets), but in kind of a strange
location--likely because it was the only place to put it and the pool quite a
few years after the hotel was built and the town grew up around it. Very good
front desk staff.

Thanks for sharing your feedback; I am glad you enjoyed your stay and found the
property to be quiet despite our good location "at the centre of it all". You
have certainly done your homework - good for you ! You are right, that the hotel
section (former Nancy Greene Lodge wing) does have smaller, simpler rooms- and
we price them accordingly (discounted/lead in rates). That said, we have just
finished a refresh on these this past year and are very comfortable. We have
deluxe oversized rooms, as well as many varieties of suites to choose from in
the lodge wing as you mention. The pool and hot tub - believe it or not it has
been suggested we move it - which of course is quite tough to do, but you are
exactly right - there was much around when it was originally built ! Thanks
again.

My husband, 2 daughters ( 13 and 10) and myself stayed in a loft suite at the
Crystal Lodge. It was a two story with a full bath, kitchenette and living area
with pull out sofa on the main level and an upstairs with a king size bed, tv
and full bathroom plus separate entrance. The room was newly redone in modern
decor and very clean. We looked onto the main strip in Whistler village where
restaurants and shops are happening at night. The hotel is just steps away from
the gondola that takes you up Whistler mountain and across the Peak 2 Peak to
Blackcomb mountain. Beautiful sights! This was our second stay at Crystal Lodge
and we loved it! On our trip we ziptreked which we would also recommend! I would
definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.

Crystal Lodge is a big hotel, with a top notch location, friendly staff and
overall a great service. We stayed there during the August long weekend, when
the village was very busy and vibrant and were so thankful to have found
accommodation in the heart of all the happenings while paying only $107 on
average per night. The hotel was more than we expected for the price. Our room
was big, clean and comfortable, with decent interior furnishing and quiet nights
so we were able to get enough sleep. Everything in Whistler is accessible from
this location - most importantly, the Starbucks that was literally an elevator
ride away.:) We would definitely stay there againHotel Review of the Crystal Lodge Hotel Whistler

Stayed here with my 16 year old daughter. The hotel was fantastic. Whistler
Village is amazing. There is lots to do here and we were never bored. This is a
fantastic hotel to stay at. The staff were excellent and I would definitely stay
here again. Well done.

This hotel is top notch, the service provided by the staff was excellent they
were all very polite well presented and extremely helpful. The hotel its self is
situated perfectly there is all you need in regards to shops pubs and
restaurants within a 5 min walk as well as the ski lifts being a stones throw
from the hotel. There are many excursions and activities that the hotel staff
are more than willing to help you with.
The hotel its self is of a high standard everything was very clean, tidy and
worked as it should with beautiful views. The restaurant in the hotel was one of
the best meals we had in Canada the choice was excellent and food was lovely.
All in all this was a pleasurable stay and would recommend it to anyone.

This is the second time we stay at the Crystal Lodge in Whistler. (1st time was
for our Honeymoon!) This time we brought our kids and in-laws. We can’t say
enough about this hotel and it’s staff! The hotel is super close to the lifts,
it right smack in the of the Whistler Village, and there are a ton of really
good restaurants and pubs around it. The hotel staff keep the hotel really clean
and it feels so nice and cosy, it just feels like home! The pool is heated and
the Jacuzzi is ready to roll after a long day on the slopes. The kids loved it!
We really loved staying here and look forward to coming back for another stay!

Right in the heart of the village
The Crystal Lodge was a great jumping off point to our day. Everything we needed
was in a few feet of our hotel. The bed was very comfortable as well which is
what matters most to me when I vacation.

The Crystal Lodge us a big hotel in Whistler Village, right on the 'village
stroll'. It is also close to Whistler Mountain's cable car and all attractions.
We stayed there in July 2010, during the first warm weekend. It was very busy in
Whistler, but the hotel was just fine. The staff was very friendly, to my
personal taste a bit over the top. They were clearly trained for service
attitude.
Our room was rather small, but ok for 2 nights. The room was comfortable, clean
and nicely decorated. Car parking in the hotel's garage is very convenient but
comes with a price tag of $20 per night excl taxes. Using the public parkings
saves you about one third of that cost.

The Crystal's biggest selling feature is it's stellar location right smack in
the heart of Whistler Village -- it's a better location than other well-situated
hotels I've stayed at in Whistler Village. From the doors of the hotel it's
literally a 3-minute walk to the main gondolas/chairs at the base of Whistler
and Blackcomb mountains. You're also instantly surrounded by the village's best
restaurants and shopping the minute you set foot outside.
I was really pleased with the top-notch service; the staff were great. The
rooms, though a bit small, featured stylish decor and were extremely clean and
well-maintained with modern, functional furnishings. Pool facilities were
nothing to write home about, but were decent. The additional $20 vehicle parking
charge is a drawback, but such is the case at all Whistler hotels as far as I
know. Top marks overall. |
