Hotel Review of the Four Seasons Hotel

We stayed at the Four Seasons Whistler last month and only have 1 word
to describe our experience. AMAZING! FANTASTIC! OUT OF THIS WORLD!
Sorry, that wasn’t 1 word, was it???!!! Our stay was just phenomenal! We
checked in Thursday and checked out Saturday.
A week prior to our arrival, I called to ensure that we had a room with
a pull-out sofa bed for our daughter. They asked for her name and her
age and assured me that they would have the proper accommodations for
us.
Upon arrival, we found out that there is only Valet service available at
this property. FYI. Valet parking is $33 a day. We were encouraged by
the Hotel Valet staff to leave our vehicle in the hotel driveway. We
were assured that our belongings and our vehicle would be taken care
off.
We arrived earlier than the usual check-in time but the resort was able
to accommodate us right away. Immediately upon check-in, the Front Desk
staff brought a large basket of stuffed animals to our daughter and
requested that she select what she liked. She picked out a darling
stuffed goldfish.
We were given our keys and directed to our room. We had an amazing room.
It was huge. We could have easily held a large dinner party in our room
without our guests feeling crowded. Upon entering, there’s a large
foyer. A wide hallway connected the foyer to our actual sleeping,
sitting, eating area. Off to the right of the hallway was a very large
walk-in closet and wall-safe. To the left was a very large washroom with
separate tub, shower, make-up area, double sink and separate enclosed
water-closet / toilet. The washroom itself was the size of a studio unit
in downtown Vancouver.
I had requested a micro-wave when I had called to confirm our
accommodations. The microwave was there when we arrived. The room was
very comfortable with a large King size bed, Sofa which turned into a
Queen size Sofa Bed, a coffee table, armoire with Television unit hidden
within, a round table with 2 captain chairs and a padded leather bench
at the end of our bed.
There was also a door off the sleeping area to a small balcony. We
didn’t have a great view – had a view of a parking lot – but that didn’t
bother us. The room itself was amazing!

For our daughter, they welcomed her with a beautiful chocolate treat.
Her name was written in chocolate on a plate with a chocolate coated
rice crispy ramekin topped with chocolate covered skewered treats and
gummy worms. She was thrilled. Kudos to the Four Seasons Marketing
Department! What an ingenious way to build customer loyalty. I know it
worked because all I heard from my daughter say during the entire trip
was, “Let’s only stay at the Four Seasons from now on.” I too was bowled
over by the amazing gesture. I too was running around telling my husband
that we’ll only go where there’s a Four Seasons Resort.
Not only do they offer robes and slippers for the adults, they also had
a miniature robe and little slippers for our daughter. Now, that’s a
resort that’s thought of everything!
Turndown service in hotels for the most part is a lost art but at the
Four Seasons, it’s the norm and we love that service. The turndown
attendant not only left us chocolates on our pillows but also turned
down our bed and our daughter’s Sofa Bed, they also changed our towels,
picked-up our room, dimmed the lights and closed our blinds and drew our
curtains for the evening. It felt simply luxurious.

If the Four Seasons were a religion, I would be lining up to convert.
The service at the Four Seasons is phenomenal. They offer courtesy
shuttle service in their Cadillac Escalade to the village, to the
golf-course, in fact, anywhere you want to go. We had friends staying at
the Hilton and had scheduled a play-date for my daughter and their child
at the Four Seasons pool. Since the hotel was aware of the play-date,
they drove my daughter and me over to the Hilton to pick up her
play-date and drive us back to the Four Seasons hotel. When we arrived,
a miniature robe was waiting for my daughter’s friend to use during her
visit so that she may keep warm after their swim. Even my daughter’s
friend became a Four Seasons convert!
The pool area is lovely and is large by Whistler standards. There are
several hot-tubs around the main pool. There is pool staff that will set
up the lounge chairs (cover them with freshly laundered lounge covers)
and move the pool umbrellas for the guests. There is complimentary fresh
fruit flavored water (strawberry in one and lemon in another) at the
pool to quench one’s thirst and on Saturdays, there’s even complimentary
Ice-Cream.
The gym facilities are excellent. It’s one of the largest gyms I’ve had
the pleasure to work out in and it wasn’t at all busy the 2 days we were
there. Half a dozen Treadmills, 4 Ellipticals, Universal Gym, Free
Weights, etc. I was very impressed with their gym.

We golfed during our stay at the Four Seasons. Instead of having us
schlep our own golf clubs to the room; the Valet service would store our
clubs for us and pull them out as we needed. I love having that service.
All in all, our experience at the Four Seasons was amazing! My only
complaint and then again, it’s not really a complaint but an opinion, is
that the resort is located in the upper village. It’s a little far away
from the village of Whistler itself. But the service, the ambiance, and
the experience as a whole more than makes up for the extra walking time.
If you’re going to Whistler, I would definitely recommend the Four
Seasons Whistler Resort. I rate it a 10 out of 10.

This was our second trip to Whistler and this Four Seasons in the past 5
years. We have had the pleasure of staying in Four Seasons hotels in
many cities. For this trip to Whistler, we had a one bedroom suite. The
"suite" was 800 sq feet...very small for a family, but good for a
couple. My teenage son slept on a small (full size bed) pull out sofa
that was lumpy and uncomfortable. I must say that our king size bed was
very comfortable but we only had 2 pillows for the whole bed, which made
it uncomfortable to "prop up" and read at night. The master bathroom was
spacious, clean, and modern. Our balcony was so small the three of us
could not sit outside together. This hotel is at the end of the hotel
row in Whistler, close enough to the upper village but well away from
the main village. We were able to walk, and enjoyed our walks to and
from the villages, but if you cannot walk for long periods, you would
not want to stay here. I would also think it would be a pain to get to
the ski slopes from this hotel. One thing I did like about the location
is Lost Lake Park is almost across the street--its the perfect place for
a morning jog or a nature walk. I think in the winter you can
cross-country ski there. Service was good, but not "over the top". One
morning, housekeeping knocked on the door at 8:15 am to clean the room.
Each evening, they knocked while we were dressing for dinner. It was a
little annoying. Overall, it was fine--but I would probably not stay
there again. The Fairmont Hotel looks a lot nicer and is closer to the
upper village than the Four Seasons, and there are tons of condos in the
village to pick from.

We totally enjoyed our stay at the Four Seasons. When we booked we got 3
nights for the price of two so it made the cost reasonable for what we
got. This was the nicest hotel room we have ever stayed in. We would go
back again and again just to stay here. |
