Hotel Review of the Ocean Promenade Hotel White Rock

My sister and brother-in-law traveled with my husband and I on our first visit
to Canada. white Rock is only 5 minutes over the border of Washington. What a
cute, quaint town! we instantly liked the town with the shopping, promenade and
lots of dining. We decided to stay two nights instead of staying in Vancouver,
although we took a great day trip there.
The room fit our needs great as the one bedroom suite was a good price,
especially split between two couples. It has 2 queen beds in one room, a full
size kitchen, living room and a dining room table and 4 chairs. It even had 1
1/2 bathrooms which sealed the deal for us! we will go back. The Hotel is
decorated with all new bedding, furnishings and state of the art appliances,
including dishwasher and granite countertops.
I think the front desk could also be a little more informed of the town as well.
And we wish they would have mentioned the little coffee shop as we completely
missed it until check out.
Al in all though good value for the money.
I will look at B and B's and compare if we can return one day.

Pleasantly surprised at our accommodations. The hotel was much nicer than we
expected and the staff courteous. Loved White Rock and walking the promenade.
Very convenient when coming from the US and much cheaper than Vancouver. Only
downside was the agency we booked through. I did confirm with the hotel to make
sure it went through but when I arrived the hotel rate was more than advertised.
Contacting the reservation company did not resolve the issue. They simply told
me I was wrong and the rate was right even though I sent them their own
confirmation proving otherwise.
Bottom line: highly recommend hotel and city just do not book through the agency
I used.

A nicely kept hotel with excellent proximity and views of the ocean. It was also
a very quiet hotel. Pleasant staff, clean rooms with lots of space, and secure
parking at no extra charge. A feature that you do not get in downtown Vancouver.
I would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is located at the east end of the promenade. Simply walking across
the street puts you on the paved path that follows Semiahmoo Bay for a mile
leading you to the "White Rock" that the town is named for and the west end of
the promenade. We booked a two queen suite and were surprised at the
spaciousness of the rooms. It was actually two rooms separated by a vestibule
with separate locking doors; a bedroom with 2 beds, fireplace and full bath and
then a living room, with a fold out couch, fireplace, large balcony, kitchen and
a very large bath with a tub and a separate shower. Very nice.

We spent three nights in the Ocean Boulevard, well located at the E end of
Marine Drive, close to the promenade but a 20 minute walk to the main restaurant
area and (uphill) to the downtown. Our studio had a partial view of the sea and
was equipped with a sofa bed, a spacious bathroom, a kitchen, a good desk and
free wired internet access. Otherwise, the hotel is three star minus and has no
public areas, restaurant or bar. A tiny coffee shop next door offers a basic
fruit-less breakfast. All the staff we met during a three night stay were
cheerful and helpful. While the Ocean Promenade may be the best of White Rock’s
few hotels – and appears very popular - many of the bed and breakfast
guesthouses seem more luxurious and better value

Took our two toddlers here for a one night getaway. The rooms are big, and we
got a two bedroom suite (which is basically adjoining rooms) and we had more
room than our 1000SF condo.
Great location, staff was very accommodating.

Stayed at this hotel on the first night of a road trip to LA. We had two rooms
with two double beds in each. The first rooms we were allocated were not
suitable for our needs and ou rooms were changed without any fuss or bother at
all.
The rooms had a partial view of the water, whereas the rooms at the front of the
hotel would have full water views. The rooms were tastefully decorated and had a
big flat-screen TV which was appreciated by the kids.
One room had a full kitchen which was well appointed and stocked. The bathrooms
were roomy and contained quality toiletries. The hotel also offers free internet
and a heated underground parking.
I was impressed by the front desk staff who went out of their way to help us.
Though the beachside is a little bleak in late December it was still nice to
walk down the promenade and look at the shops. Several excellent eating
establishments are close by.
A highly recommended establishment

We stayed at this hotel the night before we had a memorial service for an uncle.
After viewing the reviews, we were looking forward to our stay. We had lived in
Vancouver but were not too familiar with White Rock. Our experience was soured
right from the beginning. The front desk staff were indifferent even when asked
for a restaurant recommendation. The room was nice. The kitchen was updated, the
bathroom was very nice, and the ice machine was close by. The balcony was huge,
with a nice view. However, the view for the room next door was our balcony and
the ocean in the distance. One of the guests next door opened the window to have
a chat with us.
We travel a lot and have stayed in many places, but apart from the nice view and
updated kitchen, this hotel experience was very average. |
